General Reverse lights

Hi I have a Fiat ducato camper 2021 when u put it in reverse the reverse light comes on for about 5 seconds then goes out again

First check the bulb and receptacle for corrosion.

Then if you have a multimeter , check after the 5 secs for 12V still present at the terminals.

If 12v isn't present at that time, you need to go looking at the reverse switch which will be near the gearlever mechanism usually.

The 5 second illumination time makes me think that the BCM may not be happy with the current taken by the reverse light. As the vehicle is a camper? have the original Fiat lighting clusters been replaced as part of the conversion? Earthing problems on such rear lighting clusters are not unknown, The reverse light may be earthing via other bulbs in the same cluster. Do all other bulbs in the cluster operate correctly?

Ah I read "about 5 seconds" as a random 5 seconds ish or thereabouts
