It is my understanding that later Fiats, eg. 500X, Tipo, 124 there is no KEY/PIN that is user or garage/dealer accessible. The vehicle uses "pass-through" whereby the key programming kit connects to car ECU to get VIN info, this is then sent to Fiat servers, and they send back the relevant "hidden" code. All this is encrypted and only the Fiat Servers and Engine ECU know. As it link is encrypted then you cannot sniff the connection and see the code. Also I don't think like on older ECUs the code can be extracted.
I always advise that anybody using MES to program keys they should do it outside a Fiat dealer or other specialist, or have a trailer with winch etc. becuase if the programming fails for any reason then you will have a dead car on your hands.
