Hi there, I need to replacing my drivers side flexi brake hose.

I had a look at the weekend, I know I have to unscrew the union on the hardpipe part, and and remove the end from the caliper. But I can't see how to remove the actual flexi pipe from the mounting inside the arch!

Is there a trick to this, or a specific method to use, as it seems as if it is formed into the little metal bracket in the wheel arch.

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

There is a horseshoe clip holding it to the bracket.

Remember you will have to bleed the system so start Plus Gassing the bleed nipples every hour on the hour till the weekend.

If you haven't got Plus Gas, use Cillit Bang with bleach, the pre-mixed variety.

Cheers

If you can run to it, there are nice stainless nipples out there, not uber expensive. I treated my MR2 to a set when I put the Goodridge lines on. But plus gas (or GT 85) -- the other issue is snapping the hard lines while you're doing it -- a real pain.

brake pipes got messed up everytime when i was changing rear cylinder or front rubber hose = thats when the real fun begins, what else can u expect from a 20 year old car
just looking at the hoses wrong will puncture them

thread resurection from jan 2011 is this a record?
probably not:D

anyway remember to smack the bleed nipples with a hammer prior to trying to undo them as it loosens their grip in the fixing

i really dont see the point in using witches brews for hours before on these fixings because if these wonder fluids could get in then brake fluid could get out (n)
remember its not the hitting but knowing what to hit that keeps us in employ:D

Not on the nipples, although I'd guess that a penetrating oil actually penetrates better than brake fluid (much thinner, designed for that purpose) and would remind you that the thread doesn't form part of the seal.

But on the flexi to hard pipe joints it's a godsend. the steel hard pipe tends to meld throughout to the steel nut.

I will leave the hammer to one Mr.Clarkson.

What punto is that from? BTW got a quote for a new master cylinder for my punto, Best part of £100!!! The other one they listed for a mk1 punto was around £45.

Have you tried molegrips on it?
