Technical removing head unit

I removed mine by sliding a feeler guage blade in to the the gap between the radio & the dash near the top of the radio.
I then slid the feeler guage blade to the bottom of the radio while pulling on the radio by the cassete slot.
That released that side of the radio, I then repeated the process on the other side & out it came.
Use a thickish feeler blade, as you slide it down it releases a catch it wasn't difficult, hope this helps.:)

I own 2 Fiats, is this a sign of madness??

Heres a link to a site which explains it with pictures, also if you have a Haynes manual it is explained in there, allthough they show it with 2 blades which isn't needed.
You must pull on the unit while sliding the feeler blade otherwise it wont work.

I had the misfortune of the right side brace on the stereo becoming lodged into the dash and twisting, thus making it nearly imposible to get the stereo out, I still dont know how I got the bloody thing out. but all I know is, the right side metal brace is all twisted, bent and nearly distroyed. And all because I decided to stick the stereo back in after finding out I needed an ariel adaptor to stick my own unit in
