Making a change from threads on front tyre wear, here's one about rear tyre wear.

My Panda's done 18k miles and this is the nearside rear tyre. As you can see the outside edge is looking distictly scrubbed.
On a 1.1 Active like mine I'd rather expect the rear tyres to wear rather less than this.

This is the offside rear tyre. It's also a bit scrubbed on the outside but a lot less than the nearside one.

Now some of you might recall my Panda had a punt up the arse last year, so does anyone ele's Panda scrub rear tyres like this or is something else bent?

maybe something did get bent in the shunt............take it for an all wheel laser track and see what they find

I would say that is about right for a panda as of the lean on corners and the nearside is going to wear fast because of roundabouts.

TBH I think that something might be out. I'd get the alignment checked, might be another fook up by that company that they called professionals.

Made me go and look more closely. Our Dynamic was recently in for fault repair and they "advised" tyre wear. At the time, about two weeks back, I thought, "Yeah, right", as I check things regularly. Turns out they were telling the truth and my wear pattern is exactly the same as yours. Point of fact I'm off to buy a pair this afty as the nearside is probably ever so slightly, just, if that, barely legal
Offside is scrubbing too, but still within limits. And we've not had so much as a scuff, never mind a shunt.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to know. I'm used to small FWD cars not wearing out the rears at all.
Seems the Panda is relatively heavy on its tyres. I already need to replace the fronts real soon now.

Yes it would, although they'll be going on a trip to the front end when I replace the those.

Glad it's not the Vectra where branded tyres are £100+ a time

My experience of 3 Pandas, a 1.1 Active, a 4x4 Climbing and a Cross, is that rear tyre wear is very even.
However, mass-produced cars can have variations in wheel geometry which, although within recommended limits, can produce abnormal tyre wear.
The suggestion of having a 4 wheel geometry check is the best one here.

Had this issue with My MJ noticed one rear tyre was worn strangely and had our local tyre place check alignment they confirmed that it was the wheel alignment but there was no adjustment. I notified the Fiat garage I was getting joy from servicing with and they had a look confirmed the findings checked with Fiat and it was reported that it was within factory tolerances. Suggest you check with a decent dealer to see if yours falls within the acceptable tolerances.

Forgot to mention, ours has done, spookily enough, a mere 1000+ miles more than yours. And I already had to replace the fronts due to my own stupidity in overfilling and wearing the poor things away a bit rapid as a result - although by your comment, maybe not so daft after all.....

Our 1.2 dynamic is still on it's original conti Ecocontact Tyres at 45k miles, only the outer edge if the nearside tyre shows extra wear, which is about 2mm compared to 2.5 elsewhere. Would have replaced both a month ago if the car hadn't gone into limp mode!

My 100HP did 60k on the original rear tyres with slightly more wear on the inside edge. The fronts lasted 20k on average but then there's a lot of very slow speed steering done during manoeuvres.

Panda 2010 rear tyre wear.
Ours has done 18K and the tyres are down to 2mm on the outside edge, 3mm in the centre and 4mm on the inside edge of both rear tyres
It seems that the panda runs 3 mm tow in on the rear wheels as standard.
The tollerances from the Auto data book are 3mm tow in + or - 3mm
Camber angle half a degree negative
So anything from parallel to 6mm tow in is all right as far as Fiat are concerned

Anyway that's the way it is and there is no point kicking up a stink about it as they aren't interested.
Best option is when you fit your next set of rear tyres have then turned round on the rim at between 8 to 10 K and that should hopefully even out the wear.
Hope the above info is of some help and Don't panic Mr mannering thats just the way it is. LOL!
Apart from that we can't fault the little beastie.

Seems to be a common thing on panda's, probably due to the design of the rear suspension. Its a little annoying, but I wouldn't worry too much.

Well, perhaps not so much the design, as the ridiculously wide tolerances to which they're built by FIAT in the factory. Seems to be just the luck of the draw as th whether you get a good one or not .

Well if it’s any consolation, mine has the wider 165/65 r14 tyres and they show up the uneven wear even more. It seems the left hand-side wears quicker than the right. Also a friend of mine, his mum has the exact same issue. My last rear tyres did 50k before they were illegal.

I doubt mine will even make it that far; after 30k the nearside rear is more worn than the fronts! . I once had a Renault 5 which (just!) made it to 100k on the original rears.
