Technical Rear tyre wear

Making a change from threads on front tyre wear, here's one about rear tyre wear.

My Panda's done 18k miles and this is the nearside rear tyre. As you can see the outside edge is looking distictly scrubbed.
On a 1.1 Active like mine I'd rather expect the rear tyres to wear rather less than this.

This is the offside rear tyre. It's also a bit scrubbed on the outside but a lot less than the nearside one.

Now some of you might recall my Panda had a punt up the arse last year, so does anyone ele's Panda scrub rear tyres like this or is something else bent?
Your not alone my friend, we have a 1.1 that does exactly the same, Had it back to the Garage but they say that there is no adjustment and that Fiat say that the rear wheels can run 2mm tow in or 2mm tow out and anything in that region is within their tolerance >>>>>of course this is complete ********...>>>>> I was brought up with Mini's and the rear wheels ran parallel on them , same on the old BMC 1100 and 1300's.
Set your rear wheels on your Panda Parallel
Fiat say there is no adjustment but Hey! today they have fitters that just swap bits over not mechanics that can work out a problem

They say there is no adjustment but there is.
Measure your rear tracking, simple to do with a piece of 1/2" copper tubing and a bit of wooden dowel in the end so that it slides in and out
Measure the inside front edge of the rear wheel and then the inside back edge of the rear wheel note the difference
Im my cast there was a 3.5mm difference and the rear wheels were towing in. The left wheel was well in compared to the right rear and this could be seen from standing at the back of the car
and looking down the line of the wheel to the front of the car.
The rear hubs are held in place with four nuts,
Jack up the car and take the wheel off
memove the 4 nuts at the back of the hub
take them all out, pull the hub out from the mounting and put in some spacers on the front 2 bolts ( in my case 1.5mm of spacers were used ) washers will do. ( this will bring the front of the wheel out a bit )
replace the hub and bolts and then the wheel and re-measure the tracking . if you are lucky it might all be in line and the tracking might be parallel ( mine was)
Job done in 30 minutes.
Good luck
All you need is a trolly jack, 17mm socket and 1/2" ratchet
