I fitted one to my previous Panda, a 4x4 - the genuine Fiat accessory. It attaches to the bumper, held in place by two adhesive strips. It's not difficult to fit, but needs to be done very carefully - you only get one shot at it, as once the adhesive strips are down, they're down pretty solid.
It was invaluable for me, as our dog can easily scuff the paintwork jumping in and out of the back
Things to note: there's different ones for the standard Panda and the 4x4, and no Fiat one for the Cross models. You need the correct one for your Panda. (Different rear bumpers.)
So, I bought a 3rd party alternative for my new Cross and it's given me problems. It's caused a squeak/rattle on the tailgate. :bang: I'm going to get it removed. It needs a heat gun to do this, so I'll take it somewhere rather than attempt it myself. Once Covid19 has calmed down ...
I think we are confusing two different things here. TinyTurbo is describing the plastic bumper guard accessory, actually made by RearGuards in the UK and for a time, offered as a 'genuine' Fiat accessory. See first photo below and https://rgmautomotive.co.uk/search/?make=&model=377&part_number= (note this page shows the older and newer Panda, and different versions for the 'regular' Panda, the 4x4 and the Cross). This sits on top of the bumper, protecting the top surface and the edge where it rolls round, but not the lower, vertical section.
@Almonmd is asking about the rather more flimsy Mopar accessory (referred to here https://moparstore.co.uk/rear-scuff-plate-50926623.html and seen in the second image) which is little more than a piece of fabric that can be draped across the bumper. I believe this is held by Velcro Strips inside the boot. The RearGuard is a much better item - and cheaper!! - but the Mopar 'dust sheet' also protects the lower part of teh bumper. Since mine is a 4x4, it already has protection there.
I bought on of the RGM rear bumper guards. An excellent product and it arrived in a day, so super service too
Fitting instructions are comprehensive and it was an excellent fit
