My Panda rear gate closes though, but doesn't lock. So it can't be opened during journey, but it doesn't lock and the 'open door' signal is on. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks

Firmer hand, bit of lubrication or ultimately adjust the mechanism position. Check the rubber seal and the bump stops, have they unscrewed and restricting swing? Had a phase of this, but sorted itself out.
Also take a look at the wiring to the switch that is inside the lock itself. That can fail (by repeated bending at the hinges). Is the boot light on? If so, that shows the switch is not operating properly.
Ours responded to removal and cleaning. Lots of WD40 and carb cleaner removed a really small amount of road dust from the hinge which was preventing the last bit of movement of the hadndle. If its not fully down the microswitch referred to above hunts back and forth and you get the symptoms you describe. Removing the rear lock is an easy job and can be done in an hour or two. You may be able to clean the pivots without removing the lock.
