not really model specific so thought id ask in this thread.
how much would i be looking at to have a new steering wheel (type with airbag) fitted? just labor as i can get the parts myself.

tell her she knows nothing. Or tell her its perfectly safe if you disconnect the battery. In actual fact, its perfectly safe without disconnecting anything :shrug:
as adrian says, 24mm is the size of socket you will need (AFAIK all fiats are this size) you will need a deep socket or a shallow socket and extension bar. As long as you have someone else to hold the steering wheel against you when undoing and doing the nut, you will be fine. The airbag has a funny little clip on it that comes out before you can pull the connection off. i think the socket cap head bolts that hold the airbag on are 6mm, if its anything like the mk2.

tell her you taking it to a garage. but go to a mates instead.
Tip. Dont take the bolt all the way off. only half or so. if you pull the wheel and its stiff when its free you hit your face if the bolt isn't on there. once loose you can take bolt off and it will slide off. oh and make sure you ahve wheels perfectly straig too. othing more annoing than a wonky wheel

had to use a puller to get the cento one off! easy enough tho
all the newer wheels have a locating spline so you cant get it wrong with the straightness.
Garage would charge you an hours labour max if they need to get some cash in- most of the time they will be having a brew waiting for the airbag to discharge after disconnecting the battery
