Technical Punto 2002 Power steering problem.

Hi Folks, Greetings from a Northern Ireland new member.
I know through browsing through previously posted threads the above mentioned fault has appeared more than enough and I apologise for bringing up the subject yet again, but there is one point about my own car that an experienced mechanic may be able to give me advice about.
My steering light is on, most of the time I have no power steering but sometimes when I go over a speed ramp power steering returns to the vehicle. Does this fact narrow down the likely cause/fault?

Well puntos (even the new grande puntos) are known for power steering failing, its a common problem im afraid.

I cant give any advise but my friends Grande's steering failed, he took it to Fiat and it was still under warrantee, so he got it sorted for no charge.
Id take it to a garage and get a quote
