I get info from the throttle position sensor, I guess it couldn’t be damaged otherwise I would get some error codes right? Are there any other parts of the throttle body that Puntos have known problems with?
You should see error codes in case of a sensor failure. It may be a failing fuel pump that cannot deliver sufficient fuel volume in whole open throttle. Check fuel pressure in fuel rail. Also check if there is an exhaust restriction. Are there any errors stored in ECU?
So far I changed the MAP sensor and the throttle body, as mentioned before new coils and sparks, I checked the injectors and they also work. The problem occurs when I accelerate way to sudden, then the engine stalls and drops rpm to 500 and if the engine is not hot enough or too much power is required the engine stops. If I accelerate slowly the car has no problem and I can drive it but for climbing a hill that is not so easy. From MES I get that I have a rich fuel mixture and I can feel gasoline smell from the exhaust. Sounds to me like the car isn’t getting too much air but I don’t know where to look at. Any ideas?
How did you checked the fuel pump? Did you measure the fuel rail pressure at idle and under load? Punto has a fuel pressure regulator inside the fuel pump.
Did you checked the injectors into the cleaning machine?
Since I get a rich fuel mixture I assume the fuel supply is good, the exhaust smells like gasoline. I checked the injectors by taking out the fuel rail and actuating each injector. The pressure in the fuel pump I didn’t check.
The problem is that you cannot check the pattern that injectors spray unless you remove them and clean/inspect them with the injector cleaner machine.Their resistance should be 15 Ohm at max but they work fine at even bigger values.
You also have to check fuel pressure to the rail. You should see 3 bars at high rpm.
