Hopefully Bucket can be taken to the paint shop soon, but there is an issue with transporting him without damaging the current primer coat/stone chip, then the lovely black paint once he's done.
My solution is to build a frame for him to sit on using suspension mounts as pick up points then attaching the frame to the boat trailer I used to take him for dipping. I will make the frame detachable from the trailer so that with the addition of four casters it can also be used to move Bucket, and any future Panda shells, around the workshop.
Here are most of the metal sections cut and ready for welding.......
I'm also going to have a detachable bar down each side that can be used to lift him onto the trailer, ideally by four people, but by making the bar run all the way down the side it may be possible for two to manage it if volunteers are thin on the ground.......

Just to bring this one up to date.......

Julie and I have also been in discussions regarding engines. We've settled on using a 1242 spi unit feeling it gave the best compromise between ease of maintenance and providing some extra power. A suitable donor has been found and purchased.

I understand that she wants it all black, it was just a thought I had when you mentioned that it wouldl be powered by the same plant as Panto.

I think that should be limited editions.
Only the 1242cc's is the same as Panto's, this one is having the 8v unit with single point injection. With a decent exhaust system it should be good for 65-70bhp, Panto is nudging 100.

maybe when i come back to fiat, i'm off doing other things and owning some cars i always fancied but never have got round to cause always end up buying another fiat lol... Afterall, fast, low and wide panda is on the must own list so i will get there one day i promise

Spoke to the paintshop this week and they seem confident they can paint Bucket before Christmas.
In order to be ready we finished some more on the frame. Corner strengtheners have been added to take the 8" castors............
And with the lifting attachments.......
All thats left now is a coat of red paint. Oh, and devise a method for attaching it to the trailer.

what about string..elastic bands..or blue tack (sorry dont know how you are meant to spell the last one). vern , can i just check is that christmas this year or next year?

Na, black always comes up shinier than white.
Panto's certainly going to have the edge in a drag race, unless that drag race is across a plowed field.

Only on special occasions, but I'm definitely not racing across a muddy field in heels........!!
