Good god you lot are pessimists.
As one door closes another opens up doesn't it?

I smell a track car. With the added benefit of allowing you to run something with less of an addiction to gogo juice without feeling like your missing out on BHP. (y)

thou smell correctly IF he is allowed to buy it back

Tried phoning the insurance earlier, gave up waiting after 25 minutes and wanting home...but really not sure if buy back will be an option. Fingers crossed!

Update** just spoke to insurance, claim seems to all be progressing fine, just awaiting forms to come out. So 3-5 working days and all should be sorted!

Buy back may be an option, if the engineers give it the OK. :D :D :D :D :D

Yeh. It is a consolation I guess that he knocked on my mums door to say what had happened. Im sure my mum told me he'd 'scuffed it' though

Not sure they're going to pop out. Im actually worried that due to the damage (new bonnet, new wing and CERTAINLY a full bumper respray) the HGT may have had its days!

Anyway, heres the damage

Even with the bonnet shut (which it is in all these pics) it doesnt sit right. Really, it doesnt look so bad from these angles but it looks a lot worse to look at!

Ah sorry to here this Martyn:thumb_down: you have to ask yourself do people drive with there eyes closed:confused: a good bodyshop with have that looking like new in no time mate,

All the best Scuderia

I really have neglected this thread of late!

Lost a lot of willpower to do anything last week, trying to deal with insurnace. However, tonight, I've just had the car dropped off the second I got home from work :surprised: better than half seven tomorrow, I guess :)

Just waiting on the settlement cheque now!

Couple of wee pics from tonight :)

Not sure the story with that wing - dont remember it sitting out so far before, but then that could just be me. I think a full rip apart of the front panels is in order!

Haven't done anything, obviously, as the cars just back. However, there's a LOT to do. She's a cat C, so will obviously need VIC check etc and a new MOT.

Cheers guys.

Started making up a list of what I know she needs done work wise earlier on. Then I sat and wondered if this really is such a good idea

We'll get there in the end :)

can you bring yourself to call the scrappies?

go slap yourself in the face a few times and start thinking seriously about timescales ;)

For various reasons I haven't had the chance to update this thread of late.

Bravo is back home, though Im still waiting on my settlement cheque. Havent done much yet, taken off a couple of bits, but the weather really is hampering repair efforts. Axel stands and a replacement bonnet were bought yesterday, so I've got something to start on once the snow goes away!

Finally heard from insurance today. Phoned to say settlement cheque has been authorised (finally) and is being sent out in the post today. So it *might* actually show up at some point soon! And if the snow kindly dissappears I might be able to get cracking on tearing the front of the bravo to bits!

Finally, after I don't know how long I have a settlement cheque.

Also, the snow appears to be gone. So maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to get the front of the Bravo onto axel Rose stands this weekend! Maybe ;)

Edited for effect

Either way, spelling fail! :surprised: Good luck with getting some work done on the car mate, watch your knuckles in this weather. Cold numbs the pain initially then bang, hurts like a bugger.

C'mon, gimme a break - I'd just opened the letter when I posted that. :D

With work commitments progress just now might be a bit slow, but with the lighter evenings returning (so I'm told) I might get a bit done through the week. Progress will be slow, but I'll get there!

Time for the fun to begin then! I've a day off so the Astra could be collected (bye bye!)

First things first, take off the Marea centre console and ashtray. Stereos also gone, with all the centre console out of the way the new handbrake sensor switch can be fitted up

Boring jobs out of the way and time to tackle the real culprit - that front end.

08032010265.jpg

This is where I'd got to previously. The unaffected headlight was out easy enough, time to figure out how to get the damaged light out. It was well and truly wedged between the landing panel, the wing and the bumper. Time for some creative thinking...

08032010269.jpg

At last, the light it moves...

08032010267.jpg

My method has left some damage, as you can see. Not in the slightest bit bothered about this, with both wings in line for replacement anyway!

Anyway, headlights movable now so I can get to that last bolt for the landing panel, located just to the left of the headlight. You dont really see it in this picture, its just where the bonnet cable kinda dissapears.

08032010266.jpg

So now the landing panel is off, as are both headlights.

08032010271.jpg

And thats where I am just now. The bonnet release cable is off, as is the wee alarm sensor so the landing panel is physically free from the car. Next up I'm going to try and get at least one of the wings off today. with the wings off it looks like the bumper could be easily removed. Quite chuffed with this mornings progress so far!

Looking good so far, and now that he has stolen my trolly jack I am sure we will see some more progress :D
