daryls wifi not working tonight, hes upstairs has big pc with wireless dongle type thing, all hes done today is activate his xp, after that it hasnt worked, the icon is there it says its conected but nothing works, browser just says searching an msn wont conect

Right click the wireless connection icon and click repair, it works for most things

its wifi connection, and i have the forum running ok as well as msn and icq but if i try and open any other page ans getting error message page cannot be displayed for every other site i go on...

Perhaps that's all your laptop wants to look at?

Anyway, do you mean that you get "Page cannot be displayed" on any other site all the time? What if you start the PC, you're close to the router, then you go to another web page? Does that work first time?
A thought is that I've seen several ADSL routers struggle with DNS resolution for some reason. Don't really want to try and talk you through configuring an alternate DNS server without determining if this is the problem.
Another thing you can try is when you get a page that doesn't work, say ebay for example:
Click Start, All programs, Accessories, Command prompt.
At the nice friendly flashing cursor, type: "tracert www.ebay.co.uk" without the quotes. Obviously substitute the web site name appropriately.
Then post back here with the results.
