Good morning all,

I’m new to this forum so I hope someone will be able to help with my problem.. I got my daughter a 2007 panda automatic for her to learn driving..

The car has been working fine, but then has failed to start… cranks over but does not fire up… the local garage has confirmed

The timing is right
It has spark
It has fuel
Decent pressure test results
Immobiliser light goes off after the key in inserted (both keys)

Just doesn’t want to fire up… fault codes state circuit fault with cam shaft sensor.. which has been replaced and wiring checked…

Can someone please help.

Hi Mr Magoo,

The following error codes are present

P0340 camshaft position sensor A circuit bank 1 or single sensor

P0335 crankshaft position sensor A circuit

Both have been changed

What are the plugs like

Are they damp with fuel

You have fuel, you have spark, you have compression, the timings right, you have a working engine, probably best to check everything yourself

Does your panda have a rev counter

Do you have a scan tool of your own

Hi, yes the scantool just reports errors with the cam and crank sensors, but both have been replaced and timing checked..

Hi, I have fully charged and tried jumping the car with another vehicle too… also both earth straps have been checked and cleaned..

Starting to thinking this is a dead cause 🥺

The earth straps can rot internally, still in one piece but fail to pass current

A jump lead SHOULD rule out that😉

My 1.1 jumped the timing.. By 7 teeth

Same basic non-start, but not aware there were any errors (probably because there was no upper sensor)

Whats the History to this..?
Owned it long.. Covered how many miles this year 🤔

It may help paint a picture..

We are getting conflicting information

Initially we are told

Spark good
Compression good
Timing good
Fuel good
Error with cam sensor

And then errors with both cam and crank

P0340 camshaft
P0335 crankshaft

P0335 is only triggered if there is 8 camshaft signals but no crankshaft signal during cranking or engine running

No crankshaft signal, no spark, no fuel, which goes against the initial post

Something's not right or the garage has made it worse

all cylinder 150 give or take a few psi

Timing out
Guage wrong
Battery weak

Does anyone have the timing marks diagram?

Nothing at the moment makes any sense

One or two teeth out I would expect something like a P0011 code, well it does on the post 2010 engines when I tried it

Best to start again and ignoring what the garage said

Just put your scan tool on

Read the codes

Clear the codes, switch the ignition off, wait 20 seconds for the data to writen to the ECU, switch the ignition on again but don't try and start the car, has any codes come back, has it really cleared them properly

graph the rpm

Let's see if we actually have a crank signal

Here's mine on a weak battery

Re-read the codes has any come back
