Hangover cured :yuck:
I was drinking Rev James which I wouldn't normally and it seems a lot better than lager with regards to hangovers.
Anyway,
Heated windscreen is like a Ford one with very tiny wires running through. I tried to take a pic of them, it's not too clear though..
The tomtom in those pics is not the Fiat blue&me 2 model. It's a regular tomtom 1000 go live.
They are the same physically so the unit charges in that fiat dock.
You can find second hand docks on ebay for cheap
If you look
here in Halfords they are clearing them out at £129, however I was a little lucky with mine.
I reserved a unit in a local branch, and then they called me to say they only had the display model left and that the live services had expired.
Cheekily I said I would want at least £50 off then as it costs £48 or so to renew for another year. They gave it to me for £65 in the end.
At the moment, until March 31st, the tomtom 1000 go live comes with free lifetime maps, so I called tomtom to say as it's ex display, does it still qualify. The fella said yes they would give me free lifetime maps, and then went onto say "Oh that's a live model, so I'll renew the live services for a year too"
Bonus, of course I didn't mention it to Halfords on collection.
I'd suggest checking if you have local stock, then maybe calling the store to see if it is the last display model. If yes try your luck for the "live expired" discount as we now know tomtom will renew for free!
I do have a Fiat Blue&me live 2 unit. The screen was smashed but I've found new screens for £45 so have ordered one to repair it.
The main differences between the 2 models are the Fiat version integrates with the cars blue&me system showing you stuff like trip computers, music from the usb port if you have a usb stick in there. Eco driving graph is there too. Also the Fiat unit is full Europe mapping, the halfords one is UK and ROI only although you can buy a Europe version elsewhere.
here's a pic
I am struggling to pair the 1000 unit to the car, but not spent much time trying. The Blue&Me unit paired straight away???
Out of the 2, I'd try for the Fiat model. They do come up on Ebay, one sold brand new the other day for £150. Bear in mind, if you want live services, they are free for the 1st year and £48 a year after so take it into account if you buy used.
Other than that, if you can bag a bargain on the 1000 model, then as I wrote above they have free lifetime maps until end of this month (fiat unit you have to pay for updates, so that's a plus, but not integrating fully with the car is a big negative really, you can use steering wheel controls to operate the Fiat version, I'm unsure on the 1000, as I couldn't pair it yet?. Another thinh, you'll have to buy the Fiat mount separately with the 1000.
There's loads of videos on you tube showing the Fiat one.
