This isn't going to be scrapped or used for parts so vultures back off....

Andy if you can bear with me I will come down when I get the time & fit the engine for you (thank god it's not got an auto  )

Unfortunately this month I've got to sort a sticking caliper on the Sisley (developed over the last couple of days), change an air-con condensor & aux fan & service my 735, build a shed (wooden type Not the 735 before anyone jumps in) Finally sort Tony's Selecta, erect a fence of 29 posts & 28 panels and lastly go to a weekend meet in Ireland. After that I'm all yours :)

Somewhere in there I also have to find time to take the Mrs away for a nice weekend.

All I ask is that you source an engine they are light enough to pick up by hand so find a good used one throw it in the boot and put it in the garage ready to be fitted. Unfortunately I won't put anymore engines in the Sisley after it was all painted & valated as there is a good one nearby, but would imagine that they are available all over the place.

Meantime have a good look under the panda for any rot in the floor or sill or rusting of fuel & brake pipes if any surface rust are visible on the pipes wire brush & then spray them with waxoil, you could also check the shocks are not leaking or any of the ball joints/bushes are not excessively worn.

If you are happy with that we'll get it sorted.

Any other members wishing to join in please do so.

Once running contact DVLA I'm assuming you have lost all paperwork relating to the car and you have just bought it (from your mum) and need to register it, I also have a spare dash if it can be used in LHD to change the speed to MPH from KPH. oh! the headlights will need to be changed for UK roads about £20 from e-bay for brand new ones

That should be about it (y)

Does that sound OK.

Alan

that sounds more than just OK - that sounds absolutely GREAT!

I will be forever thankful :D

Don't worry about the timescale, there is no rush at all, also because it's going to take me some time anyway to source the engine and do all the bits and pieces you suggested as preparation. I've also got to travel for work at the end of the month, so I guess it will suit both of us (and any others who'd like to join in as invited by Alan) to pencil this in for some time in June. Weekends are best for me but I can try and sort out a day's leave during the week if necessary (Friday being the best candidate usually).

For the engine, I will have a look at the link (thanks Dave, and by the way, unfortunately it hasn't got the fancy extras like el windows or central locking...) - but in the meantime if anybody here can offer anything I'd be interested in hearing from you, if you are based relatively close to Manchester (simply because I have to borrow someone else's car to come and get it, so it's a bit tricky).

Thanks again to all for your precious support - also on behalf of my Mum and my late Dad, the original owner of the car.

PS: the Panda is now safely locked in my garage, I went to tow it away today - phew! I told her about your v kind comments and she vas very pleased ;)

Close thing Steve as I would dearly love those roof rails n tailgate ;)

I'm off on the 1,2,7,8,12,13,14,19,20,24,25,30 of June unfortunately not many days are weekend.

Oh! looks like it's just the face plate of the speedo that needs to be changed I would keep the original milage as it makes it interesting to say the least.

OK this is on for Monday the 12th if anyone wants to visit or meet or help?

There's 2 engines to take out and one to replace, It should be relatively quick as I'm getting the practice and it's manual this time going back in.

Still can't wear shoes though :(

where is this going to happen?

my car is dead at the mo, but i might have something sorted out by then. Ive never worked on a panda, but have done an engine swap on my car, HG before on a couple of cinqs and dropped the engine out of a cinq last night - manchester isnt too far away, so i may pop up to lend a hand if you want.

hi, manchesters too far for me as well while i should be at work....but if you guys are changing over the headlights i will swap with posh as i really hope to get him to spain in the next 2 months.posh's are for england as hes been here a couple of years.i will travel up to do this , just cant make the 12th .
best wishes with the engine change...gina XXX

the headlights from posh might not fit, as your car has the headlamp beam adjuster inside the car (electric switch), which means you cant adjust the headlamps manually (behind the headlight).
