manchester isnt too far away, so i may pop up to lend a hand if you want.
If you're popping down ARC i can pass you that inlet manifold you were after a while back, and since your car is off the road now might be the perfect time to give it a shot.

the headlights from posh might not fit, as your car has the headlamp beam adjuster inside the car (electric switch), which means you cant adjust the headlamps manually (behind the headlight).
There's a chance that the 1108 4x4 has the same system, but considering the owner is Italian i think there is a good chance he'll want to hang onto them just incase he nips back to see the relatives.

hi, manchesters too far for me as well while i should be at work....but if you guys are changing over the headlights i will swap with posh as i really hope to get him to spain in the next 2 months.posh's are for england as hes been here a couple of years.i will travel up to do this , just cant make the 12th .

You can buy the headlight converter lenses for a couple of quid and keep the adjusting bits ;)

Well done Alan for organising the renovation on the country club, its crazy just thinking about scraping such a cool little 4X4,and also the fact that it has sentimental value to the lad!!if i wasnt so far away id give you a hand,if you need any specific left hand drive panda stuff let me know and i can find out from this end!

Organising is a strong word for it  . I don't think scrapping was ever on the books... but i think most of us momentarily imagined what it would be like to have the engine and transmission on a RHD panda... however that would be a waste as like you say, it's fairly straight forward to set right.

Well, the weathers turned out nice...:yuck: I guess i can hold the umbrella.

We now have a singing Panda 4x4 country Club (y)

Engine went in yesterday and although it took a bit longer than thought (as it always seems to these days) it eventually fired up and was running well gearbox was working forwards & back so just needs an MOT.

I wish Andreas luck in getting it past.

I'll stick up a post of the days events.

(y) wow excellent , almost forgotten about this little car :)
puts my faith back into the world when people help each other out like this , well done alan and everyone else who helped . (y)

Strange ... everything seems to take much longer than I expect it to as well these days. Must be something to do with global warming.

YES!

Alan beat me to it - I meant to announce our triumph here but he was quicker!

So, thank you Alan and Tony for helping me get the Panda back on the road, it's taken a while, and there were moments when it kinda felt that we may not make it due to bits not responding to our will, but Alan did his magic and after several hours last Friday the engine started singing!

I have learnt so much in the process - not enough to change an engine by myself of course, but I am a bit more confident about what I do in terms of future repairs etc.

Still a couple of things to be sorted out (exhaust's a bit smokey etc.) but overall a job well done and yet another triumph for Alan!

I cannot tell you how happy I was when the engine started.

For those of you who may not know Alan and Tony personally, they are great people, really friendly and with a good sense of humour, so it was a real pleasure to work with them.

Look fwd to Alan's summary of the work done (if you will have the time to do it - or have I simply not seen it on the forum?) - I certainly cannot sum it all up as I am an ignorant in this area, plus he took the pics.

THANK YOU AGAIN GUYS! Hope I can do something in exchange in the future,

Andy

As stated in the PM Andy I just think it's the remnants of oil/water in the exhaust from when your engine broke, and a good run should burn everything out.

If there had been a problem with the engime I'm sure it would have shown itself when you drove from Tony's to your place. So if there was no smoke then I doubt it will be anything to worry about.

BTW I forgot to mention on the PM but you may have to adjust the clutch cable as I set it mid-way but after settleing in may need tweeked.

I meant to add Andy's PM from a little while back but looks like it's been successfull.....(y)

"Hi Alan

just to say that I have just come back from an Italian "chooning" session down the M56 and the Panda works a treat now. It puffed smoke at the beginning but after a while it was fine.

I am also under the impression it went faster than normal, but can't confirm it as the speedo doesn't work

I will now proceed with scrapping the Selecta - I thought I could take out all the bits I think it may be useful to sell and then sell them at a later date. I hope I will be able to ask for your help in identifying some of them (I will take pics).

Thanks again for all your help!

Andy"

Friends...

it is with sadness that I inform you that the lovely 4x4 Alan and Tony helped me put back on the road is basically no more...

Some bastard crashed into its right side while it was parked outside my place and bent the wheel + axis, broke the windscreen etc. so now it's a wreck :bang:

Obviously this lovely person made a runner, and as I am not insured against parking damage, there is nothing I can do (been to the police, reported the crime, done the lot anyway).

I will post some pics of the wreckage soon, and then I think I'll sell it for parts. I'll put in ebay, but feel free to contact me with offers if you want to in the meantime.

Alan and Tony will know how this is painful for me...

Andy
