Look on opie oils site,
as remarkably, they know about oil 👍

This is actually the least fussy motor on the FIAT line, my 2018 has been fine on supermarket brands of the correct grade 😊

thanks they say 5/40 so that it is...thanks
I think the later versions of this relatively old and simple design of engine were recommended to run 5W-30 ACEA C3 I have a 2010 1,2 60hp 8valve, so a slightly earlier iteration of this design, and I run it on 5w-40 as I like the idea of a slightly more viscous oil, when hot, in this older and more worn engine. I've used Fuchs Titan GT 1 5W-40 in it for years and had absolutely no problems.

Yes that or Millers XF premium C3 5w-40. I've used both. No worries.

I now run our 3 on Quantum Premium Platinum 5w40 which I now understand is the Fuch oil Jock uses. It really agrees with the 1.2 better than any other oil I have tried. Quantum is VW's brand and I got mine locally from a little independent VW place at a very reasonable rate indeed. Sold in the new bag in a cardboard box containers so you get every single drop too.

Interest, will have to look into THAT 🤔

My last purchase IIRC was 5w/40 from Asda@£20 for 4 litres

i think ill go with the 5/40 as its recomended by more sites than the 0/20 for a 2020 car..as asaid it apears the change was made sometime mid 2020 and i cant see them having changed the engine i guess it was for emmisions ect

Wasn't it around 2020/21 that the MHEV with the new "global" engine became available? I was wondering if the 0w-20 might be for it?

As oils and quality of engineering improve there's been a tendency to use less and less viscous oils. Because they cause less drag and use less fuel. My old Felicity (see avatar picture) was recommended to run on 15w-40. Which was quite adventurous at that time when some stuff was still running on the likes of 20w-50! Then the 169 came along and 10w-40 was "all the rage" I think 5W-40 was recommended for the ECO models when they came out in 2009/10 as this, and a couple of other "tweeks", allowed them to just creep into the £35 road tax band?

The Ibiza I bought back in 2016 ran on 5W-30 but the Scala I bought last year, with basically the same 3 cylinder EA211 engine, just like the Ibiza, now runs on 0w-20 and, thinking about it, I bet that's where the extra 3 mpg I'm getting with the Scala largely comes from?

As far as the Panda FIRE engine goes, you'll not go far wrong with a 5W-40 - of good quality of course. Being a 5W it's going to be quite fluid at lower temperatures so will pump round the engine quite quickly when cold thus quickly reaching all the bits that need lubricating and the 40 rating means it'll still have good "body" when up to full operating temperature.

The Shell oil lookup says 0W-20 From chassis No. 3C64827. That's a big difference from the normal 5W-40. Only Fiat knows why.
Another Stellantis move to kill Fiats by making them seize up? It seems somewhat suspicious.

Yes. with an engine which has seen very little main changes going from the original 15W-40 down to 5W-40 or even 5W-30 and taking into account that the oils have taken massive leaps forward and manufacturing tolerances are now much tighter, seems not unreasonable but to go to a 0w-20? that would make me very nervous without any definitive proof that it's right.

quiet a few of the sites i looked on just have 2020 as 5/40 and then 2021 as 0/20.. i dont think they changed anything in the engine just the oil spec for maybe better emmissions ect..theres only 2 sites that quote from a specific chassis number.. ill use the 5/40 and see how it goes..i think if theres was aproblem it would be highlighted by now

i looked the cars service book and it lists 0/20 as the oil to top up with.my chassis number is not far from the change over point so sure 5/40 will do
