Technical Panda 2017 tappets

The valves are shimmed; adjustment is done by changing shims.

Not usually required, except on very high mileage engines.

The later VVT engines do sometimes sound a bit more tappety when cold.

Tappets? rattle for 4 or 5 seconds on starting after 4 or 5 days laid up. Panda pop 2017 1.2litre petrol which has only done 4000 miles.

As mentioned above, the tappets on the 1.2 engine are mechanical, and adjusted by inserting shims (thin discs of metal). They will not need any adjustment for 100,000s of miles yet...

But, if the car has sat for four or five days, there will be no oil at the top of the engine - it will all have drained back down to the sump. So, on starting they may rattle as they are not being fully lubricated. Best to let the car idle for a few seconds after starting if it's sat unused a few days, so the oil is pumped back around the works.

Hi Guys

Yes i agree it will take a few seconds to send the oil to the top of the engine. might be worth changing the oil filter incase the one way valve inside it is not as sealed as it should be, are you certain it has the correct oil grade in it.
