I've asked on another thread but it might be better to put it here. So I have a ruined Balljoint on my 100hp and am going to replace the wishbone. However, there seems to be some confusion over whether the 100hp uses the same part as the rest of the range.

Looking online various compaines list a specific 1.4 16v version and the likes of Febi specifically say "excluding 1.4 16v)

Image wise they look similar but the Bushes on the "100hp" version do look slightly different.

So, to cut long story short, are they different and have those who have changed them got the correct part No or link for the 1.4 16v specific version.

Thanks

Mike

I'm not convinced they've listed them correctly. After all, the part they recommend says it fits all models, but other brand specifically have a different 100 version. Perhaps the bushing is stiffer on the 100, so whilst it will fit, it won't be as tight.

Why do you think the 100hp ones will be any different to other models, the suspension setups are essentially the same apart from shocks/springs and camber etc.

Exactly, different camber for a start. The fact is, the 1.4 is not listed alongside the other models on the various sites I'm checking. My VIN won't work in the Fiat EPC for whatever reason so I can't get the OEM part number to confirm.

Neither Febi or Lemforder list one to fit the 100 on their catalogues.

I'm surprised no-one else has asked/noticed this before.

This is the Part number that Eurocarparts list and offer when inputting your vehicle by type -
http://infopart.org/lemf-rder-3376302-part

and this is the Part number you get if you search for the 1.4v 16v specially on the Lemforder website

http://infopart.org/lemf-rder-3482701-part

Likewise, if you search for either online using the Fiat ~Genuine part no - The result is a 1.4v 16v specific part. http://infopart.org/fiat-50707303-part

Cross reference this part number with the Lemforders and you'll see there are clearly two different parts.

Well, having done all my research I can categorically confirm the Panda 100 uses a different Wishbone to the rest of the range. It has different bushes and geometry. Assuming people are just ordering parts from their motor factors based upon reg number, you are fitting the wrong arms. no wonder they eat through bushes and ball joints.

In fact, when I bought my car it had has one arm previously changed, so when we took them off, I had one of each. No wonder it lasted less time than the factory one.

So, people, if doing Wishbones on a Panda 100bhp, make sure you order the right part.

Hi Mookistar, I currently require a new wishbone on my 100HP. I was just about to purchase one from Eurocar parts when I read this and like you say after some digging it appears not to be the correct item.

Do you know the specific differences? Geometry/ Bushes?

Where did you source the correct item? genuine Fiat?

Many thanks

Hi Nick,
I can't tell you the exact geometry difference but it's there. My car had previously been tracked with one correct arm and one wrong arm and having fitted two correct arms the tracking was miles out on the the side with the wrong arm.

This is what the likes of Eurocarparts will supply...

and this is the 1.4 16v specific item -

Note the heavyweight rear bush.

I ordered from these guys and they were brilliant.

i hope this helps?

I have just replaced both of my 100HP wishbones. One side had a worn bush and the other had a ball joint on the way out.

When I removed the old wishbones I found I had an incorrect wishbone fitted on the left hand side. Now they have both been replaced and the tracking done the steering feels great, the best for the couple of years I have owned it.

Eurocarparts are rubbish, unless you really know what you need. They seem to be everyone's lazy go-to guys these days... "just give us your reg no please...", lucky dip as to what you'll get, who made it and whether it is correct.

Avoid them is my recommendation.
