Morning all,

I've got another error to add to the long list of issues with my '09 100hp! This time the boot is constantly showing as open on the dash (meaning I can't lock the car) even though the boot is closed.

I'm assuming it's the solenoid and have done a couple of searches but I get results about a different fault with the boot lock. So, can anyone help or advise on this one before I take everything apart?

Cheers!

Try pushing the latch with a large screwdriver or similar first

Observing the interia lights and dash

There's two micro switches in the rear latch

The first switches off the boot light if fitted, you can hear it click as soon as you push the latch with say a large screwdriver

The second latches as the latch fully closed, this switches off the dash warning light

What when you latch it manuy

Assuming the wiring correct, fiat has a habit of changing the colours

CB wire (orange and white) should be pulled to 0V when the boot is fully closed

That's great, thanks a lot. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to look before I went off on holiday, but I will take a look at this when I get back.

I would test this with a multimeter and manually closing the boot latch with it open, right?

Been a while but I finally took the boot all apart on Sunday. I can't see any issues with any wiring anywhere, and I've checked the loom all the way from the connector through to under the headlining, all looks solid and wiggling it around does nothing to the dash light.

The latch itself however looks pretty shitty. There was some corrosion and what looked like melted plastic on the top of the actual connector /pins on the latch itself, and I get inconsistent readings with a multimeter, so I was just going to replace this. However it seems like a nightmare to find a latch with the central locking loom?!? Can't find anything on any German parts sites (I live out here, checked autodoc, kfzteile and even Amazon!) can anyone help?

Ah ****, I didn't see your last message!

I have already ordered a new (used) latch, however I can try this later today as well. Just bridge the two with another wire, right?

Yes

The switch just completes the path to ground

By providing your own path to ground it would prove everything upstream of the switch is working properly

@koalar Had a quick look at this after replacing the power steering torque sensor, and so when I bridged the orange / white to green / black and hte boot light stays on when I close the latch manually, and the dash message doesnt go away. Also I can't open the boot from the switch / handle outside.
I tried bridging the solid orange to green and also doesnt fix the issue
