Ok here we go.

The last few days I have been experiencing problems with the PC. When running mpg or wmv or even half way through running 3dmark06 my system hangs for a second then crashes returning to boot screen.

Wmv's and Mpgs will play with no problems, other times it crashes when going into next in playlist. 3dmark06 crashed in graphics test 3. I am sure it will have something to do with the graphics card but I may be wrong.

Is there anything I should be changing in my Bios? All drivers should be up to date yet I still get probs. PSU replaced a couple of weeks back as I thought this may be causing the probs.

Spec as follows.
XFX GeForce 7600 GS 512MB 8xAGP
ASRock AM2NF3-VSTA mobo
AMD CPU AM2 Athlon 64 3800
OCZ 700GXS 700w PSU

Its really getting on my tits and dont know what else to do.

Any help appreciated or advice on changes to be made in BIOS/system settings

I aint a PC user, and I dunno much about it, but after reading some PC mags here in the ass of the world, they found bundles of bugs in all versions of Vista but in the Business edition, that caused all sort of crashes - it may be it.

Just a thought, other than that I cant help.

Oh yeah - forgot to mention I'm running Vista Ultimate (32 bit)

Is it memory dumping (blue screen of doom) or just resetting itself?

Chris

Just resetting but not shutting down properly. Just a click and black screen then boot up. No blue screen of death

Definately looks graphics related. Have you another graphics card you can try?

I would re-install the graphics drivers first, if you haven't yet done that.

Does it crash with all wmvs etc? It could be a codec issue if some work and some don't.

Regards

Conrad

Unfortunately I have no other graphics card to try and no on board graphice either. I think the drivers are up to dat but I will double check again this eve.

Not all wmvs but not any in particular. It wil play sometimes then it would be another to cause the crash the next time.

you need to replace your gfx drivers i think, but also do your SATA drivers if you have an Nforce4 powerd mobo. dont ask why, you just do.
Also, the standard sata drivers on release for nforce4 chipsets are not good enough. but with a minutes googling effort you can find the modified version.
As above, i'd agree that its just gfx thats causeing your problem.
