Ok since selling the Golf we really miss it, so time to buy the replacement.

Problem with golfs is the price.... So expensive!

But which option should I take. Budget £12,000

3yr old golf, bottom spec 1.4s dsg

2yr old focus. 2.0tdci power shift zetec s

Ex demo 6month old Cee'd 1.6 crdi top of the range auto

Or summit else of similar size, top spec with good warranty. Must be auto!!

Out of the three personally

I would go for the Focus

Mother has a 08 Focus Titainium 1.6 TDCI with CC and a very nice Sony 8 speak sound system...

Very comfy to drive long distance very good on fuel quite nippy for a 1.6 diesil..

Bad Point - Major major issues with Turbo lag just impossible to get going in 2nd when slowed down at a junction or roundabout....

Do like the Cee'd Diesil with full spec but its still a Kia.

Golf - way to expensive

Would a Volvo C30 fit the bill?

You can get a fully loaded one with rather low mileage for that price, or save a couple of grand, buy a slightly higher mileage older one and have the £2k for servicing/warranty.

Also, looking around at that price, you may be able to get a decent Alfa 159 sportwagon...

(though that may be a little bit big perhaps)

Ok so kate's had think and we've had a good chat.......

It boiles down to one thing, we're trying to find a car that's like a golf but not a golf..... So we might as well buy a golf and be happy.

So time to save some more and get a golf.

Mk6 1.4Tsi 160ps GT

Or the Gti... Not fussed :)

New car

Have you looked at the Seat Leon, its a golf underneath but lots cheaper and better looking in my opinion.

Seriously, have a cheeky test drive of one and see what you think

Its the inside that let's it down. Also the door over hang annoys Kate, she likes the door pillar to join to the door, not have a sharp edge.

Also a leon tells everyone you coolant afford a golf :(
