I am looking to buy a cheap compressor for the odd bit of touch up spraying but mainly to use with a sandblasting gun, and maybe very occasionally a orbital sander,

I have just moved out, my brother used to have one at home but it was quite expensive with a very large tank etc, i am just looking for a cheap one to save me having to take any work back home and just to make it easier to do stuff!

does anyone have any comments experience with the minimum requirements? the largest thing i woudl probabyl ever spray would be say a bumper?

i know the sander used to make it work hard at home so i might just forget about that?

Sandblansting and DA sanders need lots of air. A 50ltr will be constantly recharging.

Really you need a 3HP 100+ltr compressor for those tools.

re

well its only a small sandblasting gun doign fairly small parts? but i think i woudl be better off with a larger tank i guess.

Re: re

better to have a bigger one, unless you want to move it. lol

find the specs for the tools you want, they should give you an air usage figure, beware though, they are often based on the tool running 1 minute in 5 or something. The compressor specs should tell you what they can deliver, match one to the other and jobs a goodun

Re: re

you will need a cfm of about 16-20 to run a sand blasting gun and i wouldnt use anything less than a 150l tank unless you are feeling really fulsh and buy a hyrovane :D

basically you should be looking at compressors round the £400-500mark if you want to do sandblasting
