Hi people

I had the drivers side door card of my GPS today attempting to fit new front speakers and disconnected the multiplugs for the elec windows and the wingmirror adjusters.

When I connected it back up and put the door card back on. It appears I have lost my one-touch windows.

Any ideas if it needs resetting or something. I know that on my dad's Zafira, if the battery is disconnected, the one-touch windows are reset by opening the window then shutting them and holding the button down for 10seconds....have tried this but doesn't work.

Cheers

Hi! For 6 years I worked in automotive industry and 4.5 were spent on "anti-trap" window lifters ("one-touch" windows). I never worked on any FIAT window lifters, but I can tell you that now, you need to "re-norm" the window.

While every manufacturer specifies its own quirky button combination for "re-norming", there are a number of things you could try.

1. Pull the button and hold it like this until the window is closed. Keep it pulled for up to a minute. If nothing happens, go to #2. Otherwise, go to #3.

2. Let go of the button completely and pull it back up again. Listen for a jolt. If it happens, go to 3. If not - try to get a hold on a manual :). The reset combination is discribbed there.

3.If after a number of seconds, you hear a jolt like the window tried to go up but it couldn't that's a good sign. It means it just "learned" its zero position. Now don't let go. Keep it pulled still. The window will most probably fully open and then upon reaching the full open position it shall stop and start to close again. During this closing run, the window ECU records the characteristics of the window frame so it will be able to tell the difference between a free closing run and a closing run with an obstacle in the window's path. Let the window fully close and the let go. Now you have the one touch thing reset.

I hope it will help you.
Cheers!

Update. Just check the car manual and while I don't have the one touch function on my car, the manual does tell what you have to do in order to re-norm them :). Listen to this:

"If the anti-trap feature is activated 5 times within one minute, the system will shift into "re-norm" mode. This situation is signaled by the window moving up and down in short steps (i.e. "limp-mode"). In order to bring it back to normal, do this:
1. Open the windows completley. (when they're down, keep trying to push the button; looks like for FIAT the zero position is down not up, listen for a jolt.) Now the windows should be normed.

OR
2. Rotate the ignition key into STOP then into MAR position. If there is no other problem, the window shall return to its normal condition"

I'm curios if it works!
Cheers!

The manual says that the versions with 4 electric windows, have the one-touch thinggy on all windows.

I got one touch windows on drivers side

Yep...thats what mine had....until I decided to fiddle!!

Will go and try re-norming in the down position..had been trying in the up position.....had just got the manual and read it.

So the 3 door does have it, then. Strange that the manual doesn't mention it. Maybe this is something special for UK only. My car is a different spec.

Anyway I am curios is the one-touch on the driver side on the 3 door is fully activated. I mean it may work on the way down, but does it also do the closing in "one touch" way? If yes, try to trigger the anti trap thing. (while is about the middle of the frame, slap the window downwards with a sharp blow). If it reverses ~10 inches -> full anti trap. If not, then the one touch has only "block" detection (i.e. will stop the electric engine if the window is stopped first by the obstacle as opposed to reversing the engine while sensing an increasing resistance). Not a "real" one touch.

Alright just read in my manual.

"Automatic continuos operation (where provided)
Versions with 2 front power windows are fitted with automatic window opening/closing on the drivers side.
Versions with 4 power windows (front and rear) are fitted with automatic windows opening/closing on all doors"

You know what mine doesn't have it unless I haven't configured it, might go and try this later :p

Gotta love the Italians! 4 power windows (front an rear). God! Do you need to be THAT explicit?!? I mean we're talking about a car here! It has 4 mobile windows. Two in the front and two in the rear! Do you think you need to explicitly specify the doors' location?!?!?

On a serious note. It really is a feature for UK (and/or other Western countries). I got front electric windows on my 4 door, but no anti trap thinggy, hence no "one touch".

]OCZedd, sorry mate! My previous text may sound like a shallow insult on your post, but I intented to mock the manual text.

I'm sorry. (I'm not a native English speaker and this does indeed show.)

i live in hellas and have a 3door sporting. the drivers side has 1 touch window.

All 3 door 'Sportings' petrol and diesel engines have express open and close on the drivers side. 3 door Active, Active Sport and Dynamic models obviously do not.....Eleganza's do.
