i thought you get flamed in here for taking pandas out of uk an not bringing them back
See he thinks that he can get a 1000 dollar tax rebate if he donates the car to a cancer charity but as the car can't be registered in California then I'm pretty sure that he can't get a US Tax rebate on a car with Nottingham number plates....
1st post..
He cannot. The car cannot be registered through 'normal' channels in the USA until it's 25 years old. It can be brought in for various reasons, but can't have the reg changed by just anyone for any reason. I've been looking for a mk1 to bring over for my wife, for this very reason - it's got to be 1985 or earlier. I'll be coming back home (Portsmouth area) next week and hope to keep looking while i'm back there.
Hope you get it sorted with him! If not, give me a shout.. He really is having a laugh if he actually thinks he can get money back for it by donating it, and for more reasons than just the registration!
Welcome,
It may take a little time for Jim to respond, he's in Texas right now(with a Multipla he's already shipped out there)
The Multipla is not the first Fiat he has taken over there.
Have a hunt for Multipla to Mars for his first trip with the bug![]()
Sounds like his knowledge of getting cars over there (here) is better than mine
I know a bunch of people around my area with various Fiats, but haven't made it out to any specific shows here where I would have run into him. I sold my 850 convertible to a friend last year, so am back to only German cars and Italian bikes. Hopefully Jim'll email me back anyway
Now i'm off to find that thread!
