just got an obd2 scanner interface and i wonder will i be the first to use it on a t-jet? has anybody tried one and with what software? mine does not do anything yet software is not set yet (com and rate)

Few of us have them :devil: upgraded from my old K line jobby that i used to use on the Sei & Bravo.
Using PCMSCAN at the mo.

One thing I have noticed with some scanners is they 'appear' to knock out the CAN system for a time. One of my cars wouldn't start after checking for errors for about 10minutes, tried it on other cars (and using other similar scanners from friends) and found similar results, honestly thought I buggered a renault once....which in hindsight is no bad thing

Seems to have been happy so far.
Started the car with it on, popped it on the car after it started, and driven about with it on (Linz had laptop in passenger seat, wire neatly fed over steering wheel and over Cup holders) and no issues.

how much does one of these scanner tools cost out of interest. for the cable and the program that is?
20-40 quid on E-Bay and most come with software *ahem* but you'll have to ask the seller what

what about a dashboard software, I hane seen one on punto gt...
if you mean one that shows engine speed, mph, 0-60 etc, the one adam has shows that which is PCMSCAN i think? I'm sure he'll confirm anyway
PCMSCAN came with mine, though my *ahem* was due to the fact that its not meant to.
The link I gave you, the guy sends a disc full of 10-15 different softwares.
A few have a dashboard mode and one of them is PCMSCAN.

i just got my obd cable and it works well with pcmscan but ive only got the trial version as all the software i got on my cd doesnt work on my laptop for some reason. does anyone know of any FULLY FUNCTIONING free software? or a keygen for pcmscan
Just to add the Argos RAC/Hilka OBB2 reader wont read the GP (borrowed one to check my mums KA ((read that fine)) but wont communicate with the GP. (rude not to try it at the time)
for a non laptop one i like the Sealey VS8700. i borrow one and its better than a lot of the ebay 20quid ones, it tells you on screen what the codes mean so you dont have to look them up.
I've heard really good things about the ScanGauge2 - http://www.scangauge.com/
A lot of the Mini guys swear by them from boost, intake temps, etc as well as fault reading and service counter resets, etc.
Price is somewhat higher than the kit you guys are looking at (around £100).
