Technical Favourite tool for removing driveshaft?

I always liked the joke about the toolbox that contained a hammer, a screwdriver and a french letter. If you can't fix it, f,,,,,, it.;)
Cripes Mike, not heard that one for years!!
We used to have an 'emergency toolbox' stuck in the corner of the shop I worked in, and if anyone had a 'bit of a problem' with a job, the foreman would give them this 'emergency toolbox' an tell them the tools to do the job were inside.
Inside was, the hammer, screwdriver, and the packet of 3, (which had been opened with one missing!)
Always mede us laugh, as it was usually the poor apprentices that were given it!!
(also, seen some 'qualified engineers' making a right 'dogs dinner' of a 'simple' job thinking they knew better than those with no qualifications, but had done the job for years!! :sneaky:)

I thought I'd heard most of them, but I'd not heard that one before - thanks Mike :giggle:

Aye, poor apprentices. But it was all part of learning to be a "man" and cope in the nasty big wide world. Much is said against it but many of us look back fondly on it now, don't you think?

OK for us "wrinkles", but joke doesn't work with the "pill".;)
I recall many years ago in the local Ford dealer workshop some one had inflated a condom with a gas to large proportions and it was floating up in the rafters for some time, no they didn't permit customers in their workshop.;)

Had similar things as an apprentice, in the training hanger (worked for BAC, now BAe, we spent our first year in the training dept, and some crazy things went on there). Condoms tied to an airline tap, and left very slightly 'on' so that the condom very slowly expanded, and just got larger and larger, until, there was this almighty 'bang'. Usually 'timed' for when we were in the classroom rather than the workshop.
Remember someone bought in one of those early 'fart boxes' you could make as an electronics kit, and hid it under a bench near the staff room.
Also, nailed an obnoxious lads barn type toolbox to the bench, by punching the pins out of the hinges, nailing the box through the botton to the bench, then replacing the hinge pins. (His dad owned a small machine shop, and sent him to BAC to learn an apprenticeship at a large firm, before 'taking over the firm' from his dad). Boy was he a 'know it all' and a big head as well, because his dad had his own firm, and he was only there to show he knew all about engineering! Strangely, didn't do too well with his City & Guilds, and left after the second year. Wouldn't listen to anybody, and even tried to tell the instructor's how to do the job.

Jock, I must admit, the guys we worked with were a good lot mainly. Yes, they played the tricks, but were never nasty. Usually a little joke to maybe embarass you, but never really outright nasty. Lewarnt a lot from many of them, and most were happy to show you and tell you things to make life a bit easier . But, to be sure, it made us grow up, and take our place in the system, showed us what the 'rough and tumble' of life was all about.
Have many fond memories of my time as an apprentice, and grateful for those who mentored me, and helped me along the way.
Once qualified, I always tried to do the same for those I mentored too, and give advice when asked.
Don't think there is quite so much 'cameraderie' among workers these days, sadly, with no 'long' apprenteships any more. basically a few months or a year, then off you go.

Totally agree, serving an proper apprenticeship you were learning all the skills that the old engineers had picked up over many years, a short course at the local tech and they are all "experts" these days.:(
