right i went away camping friday nyt so didnt use the car over weekend and just before i went away thought i could hear a wherring noise coming from the engine but due to my excitement of going away thought nothing of it,
andyway came back today and fired her up and she doesnt sound good at all, there is a wherring noise coming from the engine it sounds like its near the auxilarry belts and wherrs more the more revs are put on,
at work i have to drive accross a muddy construction site and anyway it was muddy friday and when ive looked in my engine bay tonight its covered in mud so maybe it may be that the mud has hardened up over the weekend and that is what making the noise?
has anyone had any problems like this before or may it be something else cam n fan belt changed about 7k ago.
I had a similar noise on my hgt turned out to be a noisy tensioner on the power steering drive belt.

right mechanic been round tonight and he thinks a bearing in the water pump has gone so new water pump needed, going to cost £80 to supply and fit. what you guys think?
If your mechanic is honest and correct then i would also advise a cambelt change at the same time as he'll need to remove the belt to get to the water pump.

got petrol, it seems like it wants to turn over as it sounds like its just about to fire up but then it goes away agen, as i sed it needs a new water pump so could this have something to do with it?
