Not sure the gfx card will be up to gaming - there's a thread from the last few days with some alternative recommendations....

Rest of the spec looks fine though :D

Get 2Gb ram for Vista at least!

8600 Series will do Counter Strike etc ok at low settings.

getting a diffrent set up now tho

GFX card isnt great, 8600GT is only a 128bit interface, which really isnt good enough any more.

the first 8600GT you chose with 256MB is actually better than the second you chose with 512MB since the first had GDDR3 ram instead of GDDR2.

8600 range is pretty crap, the 8800 range is A LOT better. if you want to play games its important to get the right card, the 8800GT would be a much better choice, its twice as good as the 8600GT.

the 9600GT in your second spec is a good card.
