Technical New driver needs help!!

Hi, I've just past my test within the last week and my first car is a 1998 fiat seicento sporting hatchback. Runs like a charm. However, there are times when a light comes on, on my dash board, looks as if something is spraying out of it. It goes on and then off again within about 5 minutes . Does anyone know what it could be? and how it could be fixed??

I'd normally suggest RTFM, but seeing as you're new here........

It means that a sensor in the engine management has seen something it doesn't understand. The fact that it goes off again means its not serious.

Has the car been recently serviced?

Are you carrying out your weekly checks?

i've only had the car for 4 days, it has been recently been m.o.t'd so i thought everything would be okay.

sensor misread, get a diagnostic on it (not expensive)

Lesson 1. An MOT is NOT a service.

If no service history, get a major service urgently.
