Looking fab, hope it fires up OK (y)

Checked my temp on a drive tonight and it was at 68 degrees with the standard mpi rad going pretty hard, so even though its a turbo, be careful the temp isn't too cool. Mine was fine in warmer months since i fitted the gauge, 75-90, but i dread to think what it will be like in mid winter.

K

sorry kritip didnt go under the car today just been working on oil and radiator today.

1st of all i modded the uno turbo radiator and fan turned the fan around so its similar to the cinq/sei setup but found out its no way going on the car as it hangs even lower then the sump of the engine lol so had to settle for a nice new aluminuim sei/cinq one :( (was a spare i had of a cinq lol) (y)

anywho, tried to cut hole in car frame using a hole saw well it lasted all of 2 minutes then the teeth were flat lol so had to go to cromwell tools and buy a propper bit of kit which made the 30mm hole in about 10seconds :D the oil cooler pips now run inside the frame of the car to get them totally out the way (y)

received the oilfilter from custard this morning (bloody postman didnt come till 12 so couldnt leave the house to go to my dads (where im doing the conversion) till after he come, tried to put the filter on and it wouldnt fit :(

after bit of a think  i saw that one of the bolts on the turbo manifold was longer then it should be so i sawed this 5mm bit of thread off so it was level with the top of the nut on the manifold

the filter still wouldnt go on nearly but not quite after bit more thinking i thought id take about 3-4mm off the sandwich plate thread and after i done this the renault 5 turbo filter fits on no problem at all and have alot of room to get it on and off (y)

oil cooler mounting brackets are welded to frame of the car made from 2mm thick irom plate lol stronger then the car itself, tried using some strips of metal from my spare bonnet but its fiat quality metal just like what mum uses to wrap the chicken up on sunday so much like foil and bends too easily lol so that was a no go.

tommorrows job is to fit intercooler front mount stylee as i still have a hell of a lot of room on the front of my car because of how far the bodykit sticks out so that shouldnt be a prob, cant work out what silicon joints/bits i need till the IC is bracketed on and secure just hope i dont get too much lag coz of the size of it lol (frontera IC)(y)

tomorrow gonna mount IC, finish off my exhaust (hopefully), top up with oil, and sort fuelines/regulators out then try start the engine (cant run too long as no water pipes on)

just read all 11 pages and that is one sweet motor! Would love to do a full interior make-over on my sporting now even more!

thx yeah interior is nice but it aint cheap to do, its all finally comming together now

today i didnt really do much hunted around for some 12mm oil tube but parkers nor local motorfactors didnt do oil pipe this thick so i had to have a custom made silicon hose made at graham goode motors dude in the samco department was ace made me one up for £5 was still warm when i got it lol thats how fresh it was, its amazing how they make the hoses there :D

after i fitted the oil tube then brought some oil 10W/40w shell stuff semi sinthetic supposed to be good for turbos as hyabusa recomend it

done quite a bit of weldind today, welded a mates escort cab seats to the floor as he cross threaded and sheered the bolts lol also melted his carpet hehe, welded plates over the indicator holes in my wings ready for smoothing :D also made brackets and mounted intercooler to the car was a pain in the ass but finally got there after my car set on fire hehe  just got to sand and repaint the burnt paint lol

also connected up a few pipes and fitted fuel regulator that come with the turbo sei for some reason (mise aswell fit it as they are £70 on ebay lol)

also welded hooters under passenger side wing to get them out the way as they are big (from a vectra) will get some pics tomorrow as it was too dark to get any photos

still not finished the exhaust yet maybee tomorrow lol

put the cat back on the car

connected coolant system and done a 50/50 mix with antifreeze

finished connecting fuel lines

ajusted handbrake (only goes up one click now lol)

lined up wings properly (no more big gaps)

charged battery up as it went dead for some reason lol

also got price for the hoses i need making up from PSH £107 + VAT cant afford them yet so intercooler connections will be on hold till 23rd (payday)

just got to wait for my FCD and injector controller to come so can wire them in, also slowly ill be changing hoses to silicon one by one (except big coolant hoses as black is the theme im going for

also started her up today, turned the key and the engine turned, and turned, and turned, and turned...... it didnt start :( so had a look at the engine and i forgot i put my fuel reg screw all the way down few turns later turn the key and varoom ITS ALIVE!!!!

let the engine run for a while after 10minutes of warming up fan kicked in so all was good :) gave it a little rev to see if turbo spinning nicely and gawd its like a leaf blower lol just need to get some pipework fitted now :D
