The reason I went for this h22a was the guy was selling it fairly cheap for a quick sell

As for the weight this thing holds a lot of oil apparently but that's not a bad thing plus once the frame at the front is done I will have a lot more space to fit things if I change my mind in the future :) plus its not the bhp figures I'm mainly after and as for low redline you can get a Brian crowler 10k kit for them but the point is everything comes to life lower down the range like VTEC I think is around 5k

i have spoken to Ming many times about doing a B16 cento, i still think its probably the best engine for the project as well tbh.. jdm b16a is like 170bhp which from the very limited stuff i have read about the h22 (since you posted y'day) its not really much more powerful at all and has lower redline. But having said all that - the extra weight may help traction (a bit, not alot, but a bit lol)

Not trying to dissuade you at all, just throwing thoughts out there ;)

The h22a has a lager stroke that means much more torque and that's the main thing you feel in a car anyway and the b16 is a grate platform for builds but the main stuff comes in when it hits VTEC but the h22a has a nice mixture

Oh and there's no replacement for displacement ;)

Called a VTEC controller you can make one with a shift light well that may be an option all in needs is high oil pressure and a 12v 1a feed and you are in VTEC saying that I'm after a obd1 ecu and loom for it you can remap and get expantion packs for them amazing what they can do with ecus when they become mainstreem :) but mainly consentraiting on a getting a descent job and fitting that engine in need to get more organised :/

right ive been on a massive research mission and honda engines have s much support :) the stock ecu can be hacked to take turbos and so on timing maps and fueling tables hell the check engine light can be turned into a shift light vtec can be changed when it activates :) all sorts basemaps for turbo and different specific upgrades and on the fly map adjustments using a emulator

glad to hear people are still interested in this long ish term project :) been doing to reaserch today on the ecu and engine looms and this and there quite simple to an extent oh and blu73 there is and option to change and remove completely the speed limiter ;)

hear is an article on the one of loads of tuning software's available

http://www.xenocron.com/install/CromeGuide.htm

now there are two main choises with thuning the stock ecu first is you keep taking the chip out and berning revised maps out each time or you have an emulator specifically designed for the honda ecus not to expensive at all only about 109 pounds delivered and the emulator stays plugged in at all times with a ribbon cable onto where the chip eeprom normally sits the emulator aloes on the fly adjustments quite comprehensive ones as well

now people mistake this hack as a piggyback it is a full take over of the ecu all poramiters can be adjusted and sensors can be turned of completely if you don't need or want them and you can set boost multipliers and even change the boost limit so no need for fuel cut defender almost like honda wanted you to turbo its engines :)

Love it... Be interested to see it with the box on, and on a crane in the rough fitted position, as im sure you will need to mod the passenger chassis leg...

Be worthwhile bolting the box on, as it probably will change where the engine sits...

Looking good so far!

Thinking of making a subframe for it oh yeh no need for engine cranes in this garage haha but cutting legs and welding plates in and that may as well make a subframe and yeh will bolt box on on weekend but so far things are looking good for space but those legs may need to be swapped for stronger boxsection but I think I have come up with a method to keep the standard bay style went to get grinding disks today will do all the figuring out tomorrow :)
