This will be one to watch... Prepare yourself for a load of bullsh*te tho!! I done the c20xe conversion back in '09 and it was a tight one...

You going to have to trim/chop the chassis legs... as the engine looks a bit of a similar size...? Also will you be getting problems with the brake servo... as your engine sits the opposite way, so im guessing the inlet might be a prob?

The shafts, if you have the ones with the gearbox, and the ones from the car.. Send both sets with measurements to DAVE MAC in coventry... Great service, and guaranteed :)

I am in work so can't see the picture, from this statement:

"imported from japan this is an official jdm engine and gearbox with shafts and all ancillaries ported and polished done by honda technicians"

Only the JDM B18c had that treatment. Is it that ?

The prelude H22 didn't, regardless if it is JDM or not :).

so is that what would be found in a prelude bb1?? Sorry i'm not up on all these vtec engines.. My mate has a del sol with the b16a engine, is a great little car tbh and almost exactly same speed as my PuntoGT (until the sol hits its silly japanese speed limiter obviously)

its from a prelude mk 4 and 5 its 2.2 l they also did a 2.3 (stroker to create the extra 100cc ) there are quite a few variations of the h22a the one without numbers at the end is full jdm (japanese domestic market) (y)

the plans are to make a new front end frame for it no cutting up the bay plus you need a lot more strength in the front end for when the vtec kicks in yo :slayer:
and as for the servo everything is properly going to be put in a pedal box (y)

Where have you taken the measurements of the bay from? Reason i ask is the horns are a funny shape as they get lower, giving next to no room... I had to remove practially one of the legs and replace with bar-work all around the engine bay to re-strengthen it... Looking back at it i could have done it better, but the point is i could not get the engine in as its was..

This was the room i had to play with (as you can see the leg was practially non existant on one side)....

And another pic of the engine in place... Sure your block built up could be a tad wider?

i have a complete list of mesurments of a cinqs bay taking more or less everything into account i can supply them if you wish ?

Yea, would be interesting to know what you got measurement wise. My measurements are on here on the 'measuring engine bay for redtop' or a thread along them lines lol.

The horn to horn measurement is a lot narrower than if its just measured at the easy to get to parts haha.

Can't wait to see this get started lol

Length longest point = 50cm at a push

With from stock engine mounting points = 70cm
Then widest point = 75cm

Distance from space saver tire on the floor to the sutle panel 75cm

Then distance from space saver to bonnet latch = 50cm

Full lock wheel distance from chassis leg to tire = 10cm

Distance from stock engine configuration from nearside wheel no lock to the tip of box = 10cm

Honda boys don't use it because it needs different mounts and is heavier compare to the B series. I know you got the engine now, but i still stand by a B16 would be better to use.

There is a Sei in poland that is running a B16 at the front and looks like a really tidy conversion!

tbh the weight of this h22 is similar to the stock 1.2 / 1.1 due to alloy construction but the refence weight of a b16 for the honda boys is obvs going to be lighter if there both alloy construction :)

from what i was looking on on the honda forums they were on about it weighing a tone so i was like this thing is going to be a nightmair to move about but lifted it straight away its not light but not far of the 899

Hmmm what is the difference in weight :)? How much is similar. I think is still around 50-75kg ish difference (including the box)

i have spoken to Ming many times about doing a B16 cento, i still think its probably the best engine for the project as well tbh.. jdm b16a is like 170bhp which from the very limited stuff i have read about the h22 (since you posted y'day) its not really much more powerful at all and has lower redline. But having said all that - the extra weight may help traction (a bit, not alot, but a bit lol)

Not trying to dissuade you at all, just throwing thoughts out there ;)
