well im onl just 17, still learning, so its £2700 :bang::( for 12 months, on my own policy (so not tooo bad) fully comp, but the good thing is, I'm with Endsleigh , but the good thing is, Endsleigh will give me 2 years NCB after 1 year driving, which should half my insurance, and then a further 20% off if i do my pass plus..... so the first year is daylight robery, but after 1 year its pretty decent for a new driver... esp it being such an amazing car :slayer:

i know the feeling mate, had a black 1.4 16v for my first as seen in my dp. Insurance is mental haha, total rip, im with admiral (multi car) and have 1 year NCB its £1,300 at the moment (touch wood). I did pass plus, you might as well through £100 out the window made no diffrence to admiral lol. Also dont forget when you pass your test the price will go up. Somthing about your in the car on your own and more likley to crash. Why dont insurance pompaines like 17-18 year olds

fully comp on your own name? i tried direct line, it was £1400 as an added driver, which was good, but this way, i earn double the NCB, so long term its probably better

juwel-180, i know exactly whatyou mean, luckily my rate is fixed so it wont go up when i pass... but still, its an outrage what they charge, and its not like there is a significant difference between cars. I found a 1.2 stripe more expensive than a sporting !

The stupid thing is that my girlfriend is learning to drive and by putting her on my insurance (even though she has not passed) LOWERS! my insurance price  And her having a 1.5 suzuki swift sport is half the price of my fiat to insure :eek: WHO CAME UP WITH THAT ONE! Ye when i was 17 the highest price i came across was this one compnay wanted over £4,000 a year for insurance. when your 17 comparison sites realy dont save you money ;)

Thats mental !... all i can say is, its because we have the best car everrrrr..... thats y its so expensive lol. we pay for the privilage ;-)

I remember all this when sorting my insurance for the first time! Nightmare is the word. It was so bad at one point, I was getting declined some insurance - that said, I was declined by HSBC earlier this year when I was looking for a change of car. I only wanted a VW Golf 1.9 GT TDi - they said no! So the problem does not go away and I am a 23yo driver with 6 years' NCD :( I wouldn't have ended up with my GP if I got the VW, so it's swings and roundabouts :D

The reason your insurance went down for having your GF on the policy is because she's (for some unknown reason) in a lower risk group than you - they weigh it up and guess that you won't be driving it as much and thus lower the premium. It's a fiddle that some people are now exploiting and many insurance companies have figured this out - so it won't be around much longer.

And your policy does go up after passing as they think that the second there's no instructor in the car - you'll rag it and crash into a gold plated bus stop swamped with school children dressed in expensive things. Truth be told, I was sh!tting myself going out for the first time. I was also pretty happy about passing too, so nearly ran someone over  It was funny looking back at it now as the woman was probably pretty angry about having someone driving at them with their 'I have just passed my test happy face' on. So I can understand that one lol.

Congrats on your new car - lucky you, I recall when i was 17 back in the late 70`s:( and used my mums old mini, then in 1981 i purchased my first car an escort 1.1 1977 model in white, i loved that car so i guess i know how you feel getting yours.
Your insurance is a phenominal amount but good on you for going for it, it will be worth it in the long run, my GP costs me £400 fully comp with NCB(y)

one piece of advice is watch your speed and the cops and the cameras etcetc but enjoy it its a great car to drive.

Cheers :), the car is just sooooooo nice to drive, My driving instructor has a corsa n the GPs make that feel like a skip on wheels... I long for the day when my insurance is only £400

There's why Insurance companies dont like 17 - 18 year olds in a nutshell.

Girls just dont have the testosterone that makes lads think they are a racing driver because they bought a car & passed their test.

I know many lads of all ages race but at 17 - 18 with no experience?

I'm no killjoy, been there and done it all, but a 19 year old lad from Telford Krooze was killed this weekend racing allegedly... I can imagine the torture his parents are feeling right now... and for what? :(
