Punto (Mk2/2b) Munkul's thread

Introduction

well, i put a deposit down on a 52 plate Mk2 today, very happy!

its in very nice condition, standard, no signs of crash damage or owt, the only bits were a slight ding in the passenger side rear arch, and slightly kerbed alloys :)

well i think it will be an ongoing project, as long as its reliable enough!

the interior pic is quite rubbish, but the seats still look a little dirty  apparently a common problem....

i get to pick it up on saturday the 5th jan, it getting MOTed by dealer, etc

i cant wait
(y) minter, love them wheels on the car.. get 2b lights though, that will really finish it off now, one quick question im gonna be fitting abarth skirts to my punto soon and i wanna know how hard they are to fit, or didnt you fit them???

cheers mate, no hard feelings then eh?

as mike said, i didnt fit them, i left it to a bodyshop. Just as well, because they were warped massively and needed a bit of work to fit - lesson learnt dont buy non-genuine. They are bonded on with something similar to tigerseal but its supposed to be better... dunno what it was though.

The wheels have grown on me a bit....they are definately different and starting to like them, although side strips and door handles mate you gonna be painting them or is your work going into the new punto?

some dude on another forum has a silver sporting with a very similar spec and style to mine, and he has almost persuaded me to do the destrips and handles, on his it really does finish the car off :bang:

dilemmas :p

nah no hard feelings i was acting a bit like a prat lol, (y), oh dear sounded like fun lol, as for the handles and de-bumping, colour code the handles and bumps, something different as everyone de-bumps them:)

I was thinking it would look better if you painted both rather than destripping but thats just me like.

Just read all 17 pages, saw your sig in another thread and had to come find this thread :D.. I'm totally in awe of how this car has come together, this has to be one of my fave mk2's ever. Function before, but not overshadowing form, perfect! And you just never gonna find a cooler colour than sprint blue, nor can you beat a set of uber rare wheels!(y)

As i have said on about other abarth'd mk2 though, get the exhaust moved to come out the hole on the bumper instead of hanging underneath. That and colour-coded bump strips/handles and it will be in my view properly finished (outside anyway)...
Have you actually done anything interior-wise??

OMG u got the "Abarth Style" ones?

i couldnt tell the difference.

anyway all mines genuine abarth baby;) (go on bring up the fact i havent got them fitted yet:p)

Yeah this is the runabout now :)

the skirts look absolutely genuine, they even have an abs plastic outer, and a fiat stamp on the bottom. The only way we could tell that they werent was on the inside... that and they needed trimmed to fit properly.

Exhaust isnt worth moving, its too much work and i think it would look bad anyway. nice idea though.
Interior is standard apart from ICE and steering wheel.

cheers :)

Infinity Reference 6x9s (roll on the hate!) and Infinity Reference components up front, fed by a Pioneer DEH-P75BT headunit. It sounds very good, much better than standard, but wants amped to sound its best really, which i cba to do :(

6x9s *hiss* infinity components arent bad from what ive heard on them have you thought about hooking yourself up with a sub??

DEH-P75BT i wanted one of those head units.. does it stream music from mobile phones??
