Punto (Mk2/2b) Munkul's thread

Introduction

well, i put a deposit down on a 52 plate Mk2 today, very happy!

its in very nice condition, standard, no signs of crash damage or owt, the only bits were a slight ding in the passenger side rear arch, and slightly kerbed alloys :)

well i think it will be an ongoing project, as long as its reliable enough!

the interior pic is quite rubbish, but the seats still look a little dirty  apparently a common problem....

i get to pick it up on saturday the 5th jan, it getting MOTed by dealer, etc

i cant wait
i love those 6x9s, they are better than most i think, and produce a decent amount of bass. I wouldnt want a sub, i like the boot nice and empty lol. Had a decent sub setup in my previous car and tbh id rather sacrifice quality for weightsaving.
Really its a decent sound system for the types of music i listen to, but it lacks a bit of midrange which i think would be sorted with an amp.
Yeah, that headunit can stream from mobiles over bluetooth, works a treat :)

having reccomended a sub i sold mine on to save weight.. ive been recomended some 6x9s in a stealth shelf..
im into rock and dance really, so probs would be fine for me aswell..

never amped up a pair of 6x9s as i had to run them in my mark 1

see grumpy thread for how it happened.

damage - the sideskirt is well broked, really wants a new un but should mend if needed. Got the bumper off properly and the struts that hold it in place- one side is bent and buckled right in. So its done its job and left the rest of the car intact.

you should see what i propose to do when i go back out

will swap an abarth bumper for a smoothed sporting bumper painted in my colour(y)

Danny - as i said before, i wouldnt risk taking it to the PR, the damage you see above would be replicated ten-fold on those terrible tracks  If we are going i will either be in a stilo, a corsa or a 406 (y)

Anyways, here's last night's fun:

no, we didnt pull it WITH the tractor, just used it as a stationary object for a ratchet strap :p

Meanwhile, fibreglassed up the big crack in the side

Finally pulled straight with ratchet strap and hammer, measured it all up and its as square as the day

Not the oddest method I've seen of straightening a punto front end (must have been the first time a lampost actually straightened a car out) but good to see it riding again sure you'll have it look it minty again soon. Now I think about it your front end don't have much luck does it? First an animal now a verge! 3rd time lucky eh?
