Hi,

I'm taking delivery of my new Panda 100hp on Friday, very excited!

Any dea of what MPG I can expect?

I do about 450 miles each week (about 250-300 motorway miles). I'm pretty gentle on the accellerator (most of the time!)

Thanks in advance

Hi Ryan,

Here's the Pandas on fuelly, these should give you an idea

Make sure you click top left on UK to make sure it is NOT underlined.

38mpg .Id bet you will get exactly that ...I do with a similar commute to yours .The 100hp is a b1tch to get good mpg out of .The fly by wire throttle pedal pumps in the fuel with the tiniest caress of your toes apparently .You could drive like a nun on sedatives and you MIGHT get 45 mpg if you NEVER exceeded the posted speed limit .When I am being VERY gentle I get 43mpg.70mph+ eats petrol , gentle acceleration eats petrol ,foot to the floor get 9-11mpg!!!!!!!Sport pedal is no more or less economical ,if anything its a bit more economical.
Im trying to sell my 100hp because of the fuel consumption mostly ...

It's tempting to be cheeky and offer to swap :D

Unfortunately the Republic of Ireland charges a disgusting "Vehicle Registration Tax" on imported cars ...hard to believe the EU hasnt called foul on this 'customs duty' by another name long ago...so thats not gonna work most likely unless you were giving me wads of cash with yer Panda 1.2 (Interesting to see that the new Ka seems to have pretty much the same engine as the Cinq Sporting from 1996!!!And possibly the Uno from 1992???!!!)

I would be supprised if you got more than 40mpg. With my current, which is mostly motorway driving (at 70mph) plus a few short trips I seem to keep getting 38.9mpg. The most I have ever had is 42mpg, and by the time I got home from that journey the fuel consumption was back down to 40mpg.

Ive had an indicated 43mpg at the end of my 40 odd mile commute in both directions but realistically using the car for what its intended at least a few times a day 38mpg is what I get ...Now if the computer is OVER reading and Im ACTUALLY getting 35 mpg Id be letting this car go asap...To say that any version of a Fiat Panda cant achieve 40mpg is a pretty sad reflection on how theyve (whats the opposite of "Optimised" ?F*** ed up?) the fuel consumption .One of the track driving instructors said he got 50mpg on a long motorway run .I can only assume he has the most sensitive right foot in history....

I've just had a look on fuelly.com - most 100hp drivers are getting about 250 miles for about £28 of petrol. Personally (from soneone who's driving a [borrowed] ford ka), I don't think that's too poor fuel consumption. Currently, I can squeeze about £35 of petrol in the ka's tank and get about 280 miles before the next visit to Tesco's forecourt.

Mines been stuck in town for the last few weeks and is showing 32.2 on the av consumption.
Best a gentle run down to London 44/45 ish.
Worst, Camden Town to Blackpool early on a Sunday morning managed to get it under 30. Door to door 3 hours 10 mins.

One of the track driving instructors said he got 50mpg on a long motorway run

I don't think that would be possible at 70mph. IIRC the instant consumption at 70mph is around the mid fourties, but it's very hard to get an accurate figure based on this because it changes a lot with hills, road surface, and wind etc. If he did 50mph all the way then it might be possible.

Probably between 38 and 42mpg depending on the type of driving you are doing and general level of lead-footedness.

That gives a range of 250 to 300miles depending on how low you are willing to let the needle drop.

I generally fill up after about 250miles with 30-40miles range left.

Range you say, put it this way, in the summer I filled the tank to the brim in Leeds and ghosted onto a forecourt in Exeter

That is 229 miles

Maybe the fully loaded car with roofbox didn't help

Well the SPORT button it makes the throttle more sensitive, which like you say, makes it pump in more fuel....So I don't see how it makes it more economical....?

Took delivery this morning, done a good mixed run, lots of motorway, town and backroads, almost emptied the tank in 200 miles (but I have been testing the performance quite a bit).

Trouble is, the car came with a full tank of juice, so I'm not sure how much it cost to fill up yet, guess I'll find out soon enough!!!

Thanks,
Ryan.

Low Fuel warning to brimmed full costs somewhere around the £39 mark now....

I think I got about 245 miles out of this tank (about 39mpg)

:)

Just got the low fuel warning and tank range has gone to zero.

The fuel gauge says I've still got an eigth of a tank left though, is this the same on all??

Yes it's the same on all. I tend to drive it until the last segment on the gauge as I CBA to fill up at the warning point.

You can still do a fair few miles if the gauge has a reading. I think the early fuel warning comes on a bit early really.
