Hi all

My car is due to be MOT'd this weekend, the drivers seat does not pull forward to allow people into the back seat, can this fail the MOT

Thanks

JONO

Mine didn't until I bodged it yesterday. I bought the car like that and it had just passed it's MOT. I don't think it's an issue. As long as the passenger seat tilts, people can still enter/exit the back of tht car

I suppose it doesn't matter unless it impacts on car safety - for example if the drivers seat was stuck in place but wobbled about or something then it might be an issue. But if it's just stuck then can't see how it would matter because as Sie says, passengers can still get in and out.

(totally guessing btw)

I've never noticed them test this on my Punto or on my old Uno when I've had them MoT'd. Should be OK.

I think you will fail if the seat doesn't move front or back, since that could stop you from driving properly (and safely) but no they won't care if it doesn't tip forward, because if nobody can get in the back that isn't a safety issue!

They did on mine, I watched them! Maybe they don't have to then

Hmm could be, I don't think MOT's are as consistant as they should be in any case, different issue though!

mitsubishi and toyota coupes' front drivers seats don't slide forward by design. (any i was looking at buying anyway, imports)

Met Cognac 99 Brava 100 HSX, what do you want? cupholders? open door warning light? grow up!

So what do tall people do? Not that it would bother me, being imported jap cars they are probably made for short people anyway....

just the passenger side slides forward, makes sense as you shouldn't really get out the back of a 2 door car into traffic. and in japan there's lots of that. plus it's a good excuse to not have to get out of your seat every time someone wants to get in!

Ooooops sorry I misunderstood you there, thought you meant the drivers seat didn't move forward to allow you to alter driving position. I'm easy confused :I.

Tall people like me (6' 4") slide the seat back, so I can get my legs in, and then angle it back to stop my head hitting the roof!

At least that's what I did in the Panda, but find I need to in a bigger MPV style car like the Almera Tino.

Our basketball player (Roberto, roby76it) should be in on this one as he's a little bigger than me :)

www.motuk.co.uk/manual_620.htm gives the gen on doors and seats!
