Most Un-reliable car ever?

My renault megane 1.6RT 1999.
It had 45000miles when i got it.... 66000 wen it died, and its parked on my drive waiting to go to the skip......and in the space of a 8months,

Remote locking broke, which means u cant turn the imobiliser of, so cant start the car.....
Driver window fell out on motorway.
No heat came out of the heaters
hated going into first gear.
Cat went, and made a really bad jingle noise.
Then to top it all of, headgasket went:bang:

But loving my punto atm :D

any rover with the k serise engine. there crap,

Beg to differ, my TF was immense. The K series engine was fantastic all over the rev range. It Loved to be revved.

People only say they are crap because of the fact that some of them have gasket problems, well mine didnt in over 70,000 miles.... And still hasnt as far as im aware. You just need to look after it.

My most unreliable so far? Ford Focus, loads of stupid niggling problems.

god i've had two really bad one and i meen really bad.
one was my 2005 subaru impreza sti 10 import, ok it did have (i think) 330bhp but thats no bloody good if it don't start.

the other car (i won't say what it is) but i lost many many thousands of pounds in the year and a half of ownership.

my 1988 mary quant austin mini! hahahaha first cars! if it wasnt in the garage get fixed then it was droppin bits of body on the road! not the safest car ive ever driven!

My 1st car was a Designer tooooo, can'rt say I've ever had any problems with it. 998cc Carb, did an engine swop for a MG Metro 1275CC Carb. Best engines there was the old A series

Minis are a labour of love, I've owned 10 in the past and I currenly own a 1996 BRG 1275 SPI and Yes its in dire need of TLC now:rolleyes:

I have my mini's to thank for my mechanical knowledge today, being able to service, weld, spray. Being female and a petrol head I've found that its been a supprise to a male mechanic that I know what I am on about when visiting a garage:)

Love minis too much for them to be slated...sorry:p

My worse car was infact 2001 Punto ELX, this car was 2 years old when I brought it with 10k on the clock and it needed a new steering rack ball joint, drivers air bag module light kept coming on for no reason, to change the NSF headlight you ended up removing your skin from your knuckles, it rattled.
Just didn't like it.

The other bad car was a 1984 Fiat Strada (Ritmo) everything just broke on that car from wing mirrors to clutch cables(n)

YEAH.....k series engines are so crap they've used them in lotus elises and exiges for years. and theyre a S**T car . . .

No they havent, In days gone by they used it in the elise and that was not the most reliable car ever either but they never used a k-series engine in the exige at all.

The exige has only been about for about 3-4 years and rover were just about gone then.

They use/used the 1.8 lump from a toyota celica in the exige, i am assuming a de-tuned version of this engine in the elise now?

Sorry folks but my most unreliable car was . . . . . My Grande Punto.

Skydome broke, electric windows stopped working, 2 new front suspension mounts, speedo/clocks fell in to the dashboard. Doors often would not open from the inside, grinding brakes, wouldnt reach 90mph with aircon on, the computer on the dash constantly told me I was playing a tape when no cassette player fitted and a host of other problems I'd rather forget !

The last straw was when FIAT rang me up to say that the plane carrying my replacement skydome - had crashed.

Still love FIATS though, I guess I had a 'Friday' car. Sold it back to the dealership I bought it from after 3 months

Was great when it was working tho.

:(

Sorry for your annoyance but that is actually pretty damn funny

Yeah it is :). I went off on one and the woman at FIAT said "You'll be glad to know the pilot is OK". I won't tell you my reply !?!?

I can :ROFLMAO: about it now, but not at the time

the 1.6 stilo i had was the most un reliable car ive owned , beep beep this , beep beep that left work one night with it on a breakdown wagon , sometimes really hard to start aswell .

1.1, 1994 M reg Punto 55. Spent just over £1000 in about 2 months for different repairs. I got rid as soon as I could after that.

Most reliable I've ever had was either my 1.3 1994 M reg Ford Fiesta equipe (all it ever needed was new engine mounts and backbox. That was it) or 1.4 1996 Polo L. That lasted well for the year I owned it and I revved the engine from cold all the time.

LOL i'm the opposite. M plate punto had it 2 years & never spent penny on it but M reg fiesta was a money pit (valve stem oil seals, electric window motor & exhaust all in 3 months....it went the journey:devil:

Haha. From what I remember, my Punto needed new downpipe, tappets, gearbox seal, foot brake pressure plate (I think thats the name? What turns the brake lights on anyway that wasn't the lights themselves. That was fun realising I wasn't showing any braking lights!), thermostat, temperature gauge buggered (blew several, had wires and dash gauge replaced, still blew them). I'm sure there was more but that's all I remember. Thought I fixed it all, drove upto Scotland and back in a nice 1300 mile journey, and the engine started leaking oil on the way back. Had enough after that. :bang:

To be honest though, I think it came down to complete lack of maintenance from the previous owner who pretty much ran it into the ground. I felt guilty selling it because my nan had bought it for me :shakehead:

Sounds like you bought a shed friday / monday built car :nerner:

just read it all ... what's with all the punto 55 being unreliable ? They use the same engine as he cinq sporting, and not much complain there.

My 899 cinq, was pretty bad .... tappets keep flying out, shims and lock rings are constantly broken.

And a cam followers got smashed ..... after that it would break everytime i carry a heavy load in the car ...

So engine out, 1242 in :D Not finished yet tho
