Most Un-reliable car ever?

Unforntunately my 1st car!!!!

RED Punto 55s. (Hence why mechanic came with me to llok at this one!!!) got it end of feb, "drove" for 3 weeks! spent most of them in the garage!! sold it in june.
Head gasket went 3 times (hence why i now have a new mechanic!) thermometor, starter motor (Although that was fun doing push starts!!!), front wishbone, bushes, CV locks, (last 3 on the day i drove it!!).

No more red cars for me...

fiat tipo 16v. the bottom of these engines are made from chocolate.mine is currently in pieces ready for another rebuild.will i ever learn?!!

Rover 820, for my sins I had 2 of these heaps, 1st one dropped a valve and I repaired it, but wrote it off 3 weeks later, second one was an immaculate 820Si, really looked fine and drove like new, until it threw the cambelt tensioner and grenaded the engine.

A supposedly reliable Volvo 440 caught fire on me, considering I had bought it for the (then) wife to run around in, I was less than happy.

Had a 2.0L Cavalier that wouldn't do more than 16mpg, then bought a 2.0 SRi that went like a rocket and did 35mpg, I dunno why either.

From my experience in the trade, the most unrliable car is the K-series engined Rovers, apparantly parts suppliers can judge how many head gaskets to order, by listening to the weather forecast, first cold snap and they go pop.

jeremy clarksons gt40 lol
seriously a 1996 rover 414 the head gasket went twice in a year thats just the start

Ha ha ha!
My worst was a three year old Hillman Imp van in 1973. I bought it because of petrol rationing and to get rid of my old banger problems... Big mistake! It didn't even make it 10 miles home, after 5 miles it overheated. It always overheated outside the pub on the way home! Eventually found out 6 weeks later it was a mud clogged radiator. No temp gauge, just a red or orange light, I thought it was an oil problem and overfilled it!
Several exhausts dropped off, only held on by the U clamp on the manifold. £10 a piece was cheaper than sorting out the brackets at the time.
Inlet manifold split.
Back bumper dropped off because I used the starting handle so often.
When I replaced the battery it started OK, then the battery blew up! took it back and they told me it wasn't a duff battery so had to buy another one.
Rear splines sheared.
No 4 plug cross threaded because it's impossible to reach on this model.
Rear window on the point of dropping out because of rust at... 4 years old!
Ah the good old days when petrol was less than 50p a gallon!!!!!

Excellent choice - but then who actually bothered with a service every 6 months? Not entirely the car's fault.

The clincher must be the complete unavailability of parts - so when it packs in there is sod all you can do! At least when a ford dies there is a chance of getting it back on the road.

But the regular Y10s are the opposite - ultra reliable. My old one never failed once - despite never getting a service, and running on old oil drained out of other people's cars! It ran reliably up to the day the tailgate rusted off.

Never had any problems with my y10 turbo, apart from the time when my wiper wouldnt turn on and my brake lights wouldnt turn off....

My brother bought an Imp a couple of years ago - a complete nightmare. In the year he had it it had through 3 carburettors, 2 fuel pumps, 3 sets of points/plugs/condenser, ignition coil, ht leads, exhaust, clutch master and slave cylinder, brake cylinders and shoes all round... Basically every part that could go wrong did go wrong! Although to be fair it was 40 years old, and the free road tax paid for some of the repairs...

I've owned 4 cars, and of the 4 the Uno Turbo has been the most unreliable. Then again it's competition was 2 toyotas (tazz and corolla) and a Nissan 200 GXI. Also, the Uno has been heavily modified and has been a serious learning curve for me. I managed to crack the head and melt a piston in 2 weeks of owning it.

1. Toyota Tazz
2. Nissan 200 GXI
3. Toyota Corolla (88 model)
4. Uno Turbo

has to be a lada samara.made from old bakebean cans[engine as well].and trim made of bits of reject material.rattles as standard.break downs, guaranteed.how many have you seen recently? only been out of production 3-4 yrs.most either sent back to russia or in a scrappy.btw, they had a place at hull that received ladaswhen they were unloaded from the ships..this was where the cars were rebuilt so that they wouln't fall apart the first week! that happened the following week!!!

Suzuki Swift GTi Twin Can 16 Valve, or as i now call them "Suzuki Sh!t GTi Tin Can 16 Valve"

Had mine for about a year and spent no end on the heap of junk, clutches, recon engine, throttle position switch, you name it i changed it! But despite all those bad bits it was fcuking rapid :D

Mine was a 51 Reg MG ZS 120+, 8 times the garage had it back, oil leaks, sun roof leaks, doors would not close. ARRRRRRR

Brand new at the time as well!!!

MG = Must not Get!

Wonder why they had money troubles! LOL

:bang:

The most unreliable car I ever owned was my first one... a Ford Escort XR3.
It did teach me a lot about car mechanics as I basically redid the whole engine and gearbox myself... also had to remove a couple of dents after I had an incident with a wall (after a couple of pints) (y)

Ok i'm going to add my Uno turbo to this

In roughly 2-3months of ownership

New Clutch
Headlights work when the feel like it!
Melted a piston and scored the block!
New engine fitted
New Tyres only 6k old!!!
Fuel Pump works when it feels like it all re-wired so now working
Alarm with central locking died all door locks reconnected
Engine number 2 is killed the oil pump stopped working so the big end is knocking!

So not too bad really (n)

new clutch = you're driving the **** out of your car
melted piston = raising boost pressure without fuel compansation
engine nr 2 killed = didn't you ever wonder why they installed a oil pressure guage?????

all the other stuff is normal on all cars.

I still think the crappest car is mercedes benz

Clutch- No was ****ed ish whe I bought the car

Melted piston- Was running standard boost when it happened

Yes the oil pressure drops suddenly and guess what there is nothing you can do as by then it's too late

So thank you nad good night

Worst car was my mate's da's Renault 9 Biarritz. It broke down everywhere... Scariest was when it broke down mid-roundabout  .
Because of it, we had to walk home on a number of occasions after a night out... (n)
Filled it to the neck with petrol once and just a couple of miles later - Petrol warning, tank bust... :bang:
