More delay for my 500:(

More delay for my 500:(

The guys at Westover Fiat in Salisbury were great, I just popped in to see if they had any stock. We got talking, they gave us coffee and the story came out... they offered us some tips on how to possibly get something from SGM too:)

Hope one of them mentioned know what you want before you say anything. Give yourself a target and your harder to avoid. (y)

Only mentioned the damage incase it caught a panel or any of the other galvanised bits. But if it looks like just the bumpers it's proberly fine.

email sent... interesting to see what happens!
Whatever I decide tommorow this lot are seriously going to be peed off with me soon:)

Good, i hope you get a damn good resolution from Fiat UK. The service you've been given by SGM is shameful & if Fiat UK had any sence at all theyd shut them down.

It's tricky to know whether to get that 500 or go for another. TBH id try and get some sortof answer from Fiat 2moro before you go & pick it up. If they can't offer a decent solution then id be tempted to go to another dealer & try again, either for a factory order or for a stock car. Either way, tell Fiat you won't be paying the increased price as youre only in this situation because they can't get a grip on their dealers.

I've been following this story with interest and trepidation. I feel for your woes very much Nuova. I really hope that there can be a happy ending with you and your new 500 going of into the sunset...:D Btw, what are your specs? I have couple of dealers and I can take a look when passing by next (I know you tried internet but I don't think my local dealer advertises over the net) Best of luck with the car and keep us posted or if you need any help

Mel

It might be a 270mile drive but is it not worth the drive for peace of mind? also think of it as testing out your new 500 ;)

You've given them the benifit of doubt and they've let you down with there "so what" attitude. I would not part with any of my money, jump in your car & go spend the money elsewhere. And if that means a 270 mile trip then so be it. Then make sure you let fiat uk know how poorly you've been treated!!

Good luck n keep us posted

Yoshi:)

I would just add that as I found out with Mr S B once you accept the car and drive away, it is extremely difficult to reject the car no matter what you uncover. If you can I would take a bodywork /paint expert with you.

After all this waiting, you now have alarm bells ringing. I agree with the above two comments entirely. You have already been totally pee'd off and all your excitement has gone. The car is not perfect either - you will never like it?!

Cancel with these guys, clear your head and then think about going anywhere else... if you still want a 500 (and I strongly recommend it!!)

For example our garage in Sussex had quite a few nice cars in stock for immediate sale last weekend (mainly Speced up Sports, they said they were having difficulty getting Lounges).

I believe in fate, this car may not have meant to be. Chin up - we're all behind you!(y)

Nuovapanda the 270 mile trip is only a few hours out of your life and let's face it driving it back will be great fun you could always stay overnight as well. I know you will probably end up taking it but if it were me I don't give money to support people who don't give good service, for the guy who sold you it to ignore you is just outrageous and then the MD saying it's a cheap car what do you expect! you can't let people get away with this service there are plenty out there who will look after you, be strong tell them to stuff it and take that 270 mile trip you will feel so much better and when I cancelled it with them I would let them know how poor they have been ;)

Just been having a little look on AutoTrader, did a search for diesel 500s and it came back with 36 results. There seemed to be more Multijet Lounge models than there were Sports or Pops. Spotted a few Cha Cha Cha Azure ones, a dark blue one & a Ye Ye Green. 57 & 08 plate ones, spread around across the UK quite abit too. I guess it just depends what specific options you originally ordered Nuova.

Well, today was a mixture of highs and lows...

I went round my best mates this moring, hes a fantastic person for spotting paint and body probs:) Went to SGM and saw my 500 with its N500BLU plates on in the workshop being PDId. Instead of going onto the showromm, we avoided the idiots and spoke with two tech guys who were really nice and very helpful. They told me they were amazed my car had paint probs as theyd done 60 so far and seen no issues, however, we got the 500 outside and looked all over and she was as good as she could be, the bodyshop has solved all, and it was clear that only the bumper was repainted, no damage elsewhere. So, full of excitment we said yes we are happy.

Then, the tech who was working on it said there is a vibration from underneath and he was working on it from 15:30 yesterday and all moring and wasnt sure what it was:( Anyway, he thought it should be OK so off we go home.

Came back at 5pm as arranged and the sarcastic salesman actually spoke, what then happened was outstandingly bad... in a monotone and matter of fact way he said he could either refund me, try and fix it or let me take it away and fix later, as they hadnt resolved the vibes issue, the car had been apart and reassembled and no joy. I thought, hang on this is my car and he wants firstly to refund the money! We chatted about the vibration and he again said Ill refund you, I then asked why he couldnt have at least called me to save a wasted journey.... and wait for it........ he was told NOT to contact me and let me turn up!!!! I then finally lost it, and said youve pi**ed me off enough now, give me the money back. He then assumed I would be leaving this matter now... not a chance matey!

I took out an 11k loan, have been paying instalments for four months on it, bought numberplate and paid for insurance... my mate was so shocked by the attitude to me he walked out the showroom in disgust, what a shower of idiots they are!

So, its the end of the saga for now... no 500 and a big fat loan for nowt... I will be talking to Fiat for some answers on Monday btw. Hope youve enjoyed this sorry tale:)

What a hash up theyve made of that. Mind you, if it's already had paintwork re-done & has developed a mystery vibration before you even collect it, it sounds best avoided tbh.

I must admit id probably feel very upset having to walk away from the little thing tho

Hope you get things sorted. I think a free Fiat every 3 years for life would go some way to remedy the situation

That is quite appalling. Buying a new car should be a pleasant and exciting experience not the stressful one that it often is. This particular dealer must be one of the worst. The demand for the 500 is obviously giving them a real cocky attitude. Tall lanky slightly balding sarcy salesman?
