More delay for my 500:(

Update.... despite a promise to call me Monday still no contact, and no answer from two emails I sent either. Rang this morining and asked to speak to a manager, "theyre busy, will call you back". No call so I have to go to work. Later, my wife rings and is told they are busy, she tells them one hour then there will be trouble and she knows a reporter in the local paper whod be interested in this, he rings back within minutes:)!

They told her some bull about it should have arrived Friday but theres an issue on the transporter now!!!! They said it might have a puncture.... incredible but true! So she says whens it coming, they couldnt still say... so she asked for our money back.

So, tommorow they are giving my deposit back and they can shove the 500 right up their silly little bum, Im really unhappy about it all, but after the farce 4 years ago I shant ever set foot inside a Fiat dealer again.... so Ive 11k to spend with someone else, god knows who though!
 
Well - if you still want a 500 - there are apparently several hundred (particularly higher spec models) available across the country. You should be able to find one ex-stock and get a few things chucked foc in to sweeten the current bitter taste.

Don't dismiss the car because of one crap dealer.

Nuova I would like to back up the advice given above. I can sort of understand your frustration but the 500 is worth a bit of pain.....HONEST :).

We've been lucky enough in the past 10 years to of had a number of new cars (both family & company) & the 500 is the 1st to of been given a name ("tiddler") and actually be talked about as if he's part of the family. Thats the big difference to 99% of all the other cars in its class. It has character something sooooo lacking in world today. Plus its a hoot to drive and is kind both to the planet and your wallet.

So have a word with scrogg & see what he can do.........don't give up just yet mate :tempt:Don't let the bar-stewards grind you down!!

It does'nt help but I am really not surprised. As I have said before much as I have tried I have never been able to do a deal with them. I don't even like buying parts from them. They have such a smug doing you a favour type of attitude.

Oh God, another unhappy SGM customer. Think ive seen a few of those on here. Can Fiat UK not just take the franchise away from them? There are other dealerships fairly close by so it's not like it'll create a massive geographical gap in the network. Not as big as the gap that there was round Oxfordshire till lately im sure.

Can understand that you must be gutted Nuova, but let Scrogg see what else is available, or failing that, try a dealer like Alan Gibson in Basingstoke, theyre meant to be good (according to the FF dealer survey atleast).

It's not like there is really an alternative to a 500, other than a Mini. And buying one of those carries the death penalty!
 
Mini too expensive!!!! Looked at Gibson site and like autotrader its full of sports, wot no lounges! Im a bit sceptical of buying an in stock diesel tbh, could be one of those dodgy head gasket batch:)
Really not sure what to do.... as I said Scroggs too far away.

I really hoped you wouldn't even consider a Mini anyway ;)

Urm, maybe go to a good dealer & just re-order the same car again? At least a few teething troubles might therefore escape your second order. And you get to keep the lil Panda for longer? Can't be bad.
 
Please don't let a bad dealer put you off getting a 500:( you won't regret it, find one who does care.

I don't have any dealers that close to me and had to travel 40 odd miles to test and buy mine, it is worth the journey to find a dealer which will look after you x

Whereabouts are you?
 
Nuovapanda how far away is scrogg from you? even if he is a fair trip away I would travel to get one from him as you know you will be properly looked after and the car will be spot on, surely it's worth a long drive for that peace of mind :)
 
Now this is weird.... just checked my answer phone and they left a messge to say my car has arrived this afternoon!!!!!!!!!! What should I do? I really want it... I dont want to wait for another but as weve all fallen out do you think theyd tuck me up during the PDi?

Oh, um, gosh I'd be inclined to get it, check it thoroughly and then drive away and never deal with them again. Surely if there were to be a problem after you had taken delivery of the car then they could be dealt with by another dealer under warranty? is that right?

(y) feel really excited for you, I hope whatever you decide to do that you get the car you want in the long run x

I would go and have a look (un announced;)) and decide after that. Sod waiting........if at all possible try and get resolved and GET YOUR NEW BAMBINO ASAP (y)

OK, me and the other half are going over tommorow... we will check it over but after 5 weeks at Bristol and days on a lorry I expect it will look rubbish! I shall talk with them and see what they have to say first, I expect apologies and grovelling.
As you say, once I leave them I can get her serviced etc elsewhere, good idea:)
Must admit I am excited, but really angry!

Hmm, they shouldn't really do anything nasty, should they?

If it's there then maybe you should collect it. Go over it with a fine tooth comb & if it's all ok, take it away, but just never take it back to them for anything. Go to a dealer with a better reputation.
