Maybe it makes the selespeed actually change gear smoothly :p

It'll probably just rev higher and kickdown quicker to get more performance from the car.

It sounds pretty interesting actually. Down the ad it says:

"Selespeed ECU for FIAT STILO ABARTH
modified for Madeno Racing (Netherlands)
Include ECU selespeed with software update
MORE POWER BEST BEHAVIOR!!!!!"

And gives a reference to:

http://www.madeno.com/nl/tuning_frames.html

Which has a lot of tuning for the Abarth.. Any Dutch speakers in here?? :)

Some pretty interesting graphs too:

Choose "Abarth" in top right corner, then "Motorelectronica" under the dropdown menu called "Selecteer hier een productgroep".

It seems like, according to their graph, the Abarth only delivers 142.5 horsepower originally?? Very strange, if i read it correctly..

*EDIT again* Been playing around the site, and they actually have some pretty interesting stuff for the Abarth... very nice... wish i was Dutch :)

The 142.5bhp refers to the power at the wheels, not the flywheel.:p

Ahhh... i see :)

This section made me curious (something with fuel consumption?):

"naast optimalisatie van brandstof en ontstekingskenvelden
kunnen tevens het max toerental, schakelmoment evenals
het drive by wire gasklepbedieningssysteem geheel naar persoon-
lijke wens worden afgesteld"

Thx :)
