Hi, our T Reg 60 "Team" has started to misfire and with the ECU warning light coming on goes into "limp-home" all too readily.

Sadly the problem is intermittent and for all I know could have been a bad tankful of fuel ...

On the other hand it could be 'plugs, 'leads, coil-packs, 'head gasket or problems with the recirculation system all of which might be causing the Lambda to throw a wobble and cut the fuelling. The question is which and in which order to check them?

The easy way would be to find the error code and start from there. As a Mk1 it has a small flying lead on the loom just shy of the ECU itself. How would I go about finding a reader and instructions on how to interpret the results?

With thanks, Jules

Difficult -- the SPI cars are non OBD compliant. It's likely that the only people who will be able to run a diagnostic are your local FIAT dealer. Of course, you can test the sensors individually (the nominal values are in the Cinq/Sei section guides, somewhere) and you can test the HG with a simple compression test. You can pretty much eliminate a HT issue by the old run the engine in the dark, look for blue flashes under the bonnet trick.
