Bravo Meet Clunky.

Introduction

Just thought I'd start a thread here while I remember :)

Car is a 1.4 90 (boo hiss) Active (tsssssk)

Got the car at just under 11000 miles in Nov 09, now on 21500 in Sept 11.

Not got many pics of the car when I first got it, never really thought to take any.

Here's one when it was in the garage just before I changed the wheels over.

Next job was to fit the wheels, debadge the rear and remove the rear wiper, as it was broken after being pushed down too far under the Nov 10 snow.

That was around about May 11, and at this point decided lowering springs were needed. Got myself a set of SPAX SSX springs from whitebravo for £30 and here is how it's sitting at the moment

Currently waiting on an Eibach Sportline kit so I can drop the front further without having to spend £450+ on coilovers...yet:devil:

Future plans include the coilovers I've mentioned, a set of ESM 002R wheels, a matte black wrap and maybe, eventually, hopefully, possibly an engine swap later on in it's life.

The plans will take a good few years to come together, as uni is number one priority for me at the moment, but will be steadily progressing :)
Epic read!:slayer: clunky looks really smart but not liking the colour (personal opinion), i'm planning to slam my bravo on air bag with 18" wheels :)
check the picture below for an idea at what style I'm looking for!

Anybody who want me to Photoshop a car let me know! (y)

Cheers mate. Not the biggest fan of the colour either but not much that can be done without a big spend on a respray or wrap.

If you need help or advice, gimme a shout. I'll do a shop of your car if you want, PM me a pic of yours and a set of wheels you like :). Just don't expect it to be an amazing photoshop lol

i think it best to do a whole wrap as it cheaper and you can always go back to original paint job for free! there is a place by me (Llay) will do my car for about £800. doesn't sound bad! wouldn't mind doing my bravo in matte black or white.

Been a busy couple of days. Finally got round to replacing the number plates. This is the state of the old ones...dropped them on the ground and the numbers and backing pretty much all cracked off. Eeek.

And finally, got the wheels fitted :worship: It's only taken a year...

Hopefully get a few good photos done by a mate pretty soon :)

That looks ace! Arnold Clark make their regi's out of the eyelids of diseased pandas. They pretty much last a week before disintegrating. I've been meaning to change mine for the millionth time but this time I've learned not to go to Arnold Clark for them.

rear tyre looks too narrow (wheel too wide) and I wouldn't want to take a corner quickly on that, you will end up peeling the tyre off and running on the rim

if it looks wrong it is wrong...

nice style wheels but the wrong size

Some like it, some don't. Personally if I didn't have to run stretch I wouldn't. However, drifters run more extreme stretch than this without any problems. There's a guy who runs 215/35's on a 9.5J, which is nuts, with no problems.

Looks sick! Now youve got your wheels on, whats next on the agenda?

Tom

Not sure in all honesty. I think this may well be the end of the mods. Not sure I can justify spending more and more on yet more mods. My list includes arch rolling (£150), custom rear springs (£200+fitting), wrap (£800) and a lip kit, around £300. Gonna be hard to not do more mods, but for that kind of money, I am quarter of the way to a different car.

I went to Halfrauds, £32 for a set of bloody number plates! These are moulded plastic on the top though, so none of the crap Arnold Clark film nonsense.

There 18's but I mean it's only a 10mm difference bigger? So I wondered is it possible to fit a wider tyre on a smaller rim instead of stretching a tyre on a wider rim?

You will be able to get 225's on yours no bother at all. If you're lowered then it's much more of an issue as you can rub your arches (I think 225's on mines would be tight) but stock you'll have no worries.

looking nice! i like those wheels! i'll be getting some license plate for mine too, nothing wrong with them, it just cuz i got the car from stoneacre and i hate them people!!! bunch of rip-off W4NKERS!! so i'm getting rid of anything with stoneacre on it. license plate and tax disc next for mine! maybe a wicked coil over kit, something clunky should look at > http://www.kw-suspensions.eu/int/kw_ddc.php :slayer:

Got a new tax disc holder myself, £1 off eBay :slayer:. Those coilovers are amazing. Happy with my FK's though, they do the job. If I do change suspension though, it's gonna be bags

those coilovers are adjustable via iphones! so you can raise the car higher for the bumps and lower it for the show! easy peasy!! bags are awesome for slamming cars but it compromises the handling! it like a bus going around the corners!

I don't think you can raise the car with those coilovers, the iphone app is used to change damper settings, not ride height.

:yeahthat:

You can adjust the dampers to be firmer or softer depending on the situation and conditions you are driving in. They are just normal coilovers in the respect that they have a threaded collar and are adjustable height-wise that way.

yeah you can adjust the height!

"Basically the idea is that, when you buy the KW DDC ECU coilover kit, you get a free app for your iPhone that allows you to configure the dampers to 'comfort', 'sport' and 'sport+' modes with a swipe of your finger, and to lower the ride height between 5mm and 35mm"

on bravo, it 5mm - 65mm

65mm is nothing really. I am 70mm rear atm. The front will be properly low, but the back will still look high.
