Bravo Meet Clunky.

Introduction

Just thought I'd start a thread here while I remember :)

Car is a 1.4 90 (boo hiss) Active (tsssssk)

Got the car at just under 11000 miles in Nov 09, now on 21500 in Sept 11.

Not got many pics of the car when I first got it, never really thought to take any.

Here's one when it was in the garage just before I changed the wheels over.

Next job was to fit the wheels, debadge the rear and remove the rear wiper, as it was broken after being pushed down too far under the Nov 10 snow.

That was around about May 11, and at this point decided lowering springs were needed. Got myself a set of SPAX SSX springs from whitebravo for £30 and here is how it's sitting at the moment

Currently waiting on an Eibach Sportline kit so I can drop the front further without having to spend £450+ on coilovers...yet:devil:

Future plans include the coilovers I've mentioned, a set of ESM 002R wheels, a matte black wrap and maybe, eventually, hopefully, possibly an engine swap later on in it's life.

The plans will take a good few years to come together, as uni is number one priority for me at the moment, but will be steadily progressing :)
Looks good scott, the rims are really sexy.

Be careful with the arch rolling, especially near the corners (where sideskirts would meet the arches) the metal is not flexible there so he shouldn't force it to bend there.

Thank you Tad :). Yeah, the guy I have spoken to isn't the cheapest, but he has experience and heats the paint to stop cracking, so hopefully it should be fine.

Managed to seal the bead on the rim today I think, took the pressure up to 60PSI (n) and it seems to have sealed it on. Got the wheel on the car atm to make sure it is holding it's pressure while weighted.

Pretty gutted to say that this thread won't be doing much of anything for a couple of months; I've ended up being quite ill, and am losing out on nearly 3 weeks worth of pay because of it over two months, so I can't afford to do anything else bar tax and MOT the car (n)

That sucks! Hope you get better soon man.

Scott. Sorry to hear your are not well .

Did you keep the old steel wheels from the bravo? and were they 16" ?

Thanks guys. 850kd, yeah I still have my steel wheels, and yeah they are the 16's but they are my winter setup so they'll be getting stored in the garage and put back on when the weather takes a turn for the worst.

Don't you have social security and health care services that pay you a chunk of your salary when you're ill in the UK?

So there is a chance that I will have enough money to insure the new wheels being on the car this month after all, since my outgoings for the last two weeks have been...nought. Only reason I need money for it is to keep it legal and insure the mods, HATE people who don't declare stuff.

A friend is cutting down the bolts at work on a lathe so they will no longer stick out past the adapters and rest on the hubs and hopefully then that will be all the problems out of the way and get the wheels fitted and ready for a photoshoot with another friend, who needs a bit of cheerier work in his portfolio (his last shoot was of the Dachau Concentration Camp...)

So i leave you with this question for those who are a bit more mechanically minded than I am...do you think the 2.0 Turbo lump from the Coupe would fit in the Bravo?

Taking longer than expected to get the bolts cut down, so in my boredom I have gone and bought another set of wheels:devil:

Someone needs to take my internet away :( without it I'd spend next to nothing

Good luck with the rolling lad, some bloke i work with has a rolling kit (or some apparatus to roll arches) and ended up blowing his paint, horrible mess. But he did do it his self, without ANY experience so you'll be sound as a pound lad! (y)

Anyways, car's looking MEAN matey, well done with the progess so far! (y)

Thanks dude, i did come to the realization today though that currently, having spent a s*it ton of money, all i have is a lowered Bravo with crap rusty steel wheels. Your thread has inspired me to spray my steels, tho i plan on matte black.

Totally in two minds whether to keep pushing on doing more mods or just taking a step back and calling it a day. Just thinking of the cost of what i still want to do makes me whince.

Ahh well, we all get that buddy, i haven't really brought anything properly for mine yet (nothing really over £20) but it does amount up when you look at it. (n) and YEAH BRO! Spray dem' steelies. If you want them black then just go for it (or you could do some mad colour like Thund3rdom3's MK2B or mine (y))
Either way, its your car mate, do whatever the f*ck you want to it!

and killing off Clunky? I don't think so mate:cry: it's looking sick right now, you can push it and do more, but either way you've put alot of a love into that car and it shows (y)

Absolute nightmare doing this. I may have looked into this a spoken to a few people and the amount of crazy-ness, all in all wasnt worth it, which is a shame because it would be pretty awesome. :D

Thanks man. The steels are staying black (well, returning to black :p) coz black makes it look lower  Clunky will live, but whether or not I will do anything more to he/she/it (still not decided) will remain to be seen.

Thought it would be, it is so so so tempting, but I am constantly looking at knackers yards to see if anyone has crashed a 150 to steal the engine from :slayer: Cheers for the info :).

Tho, when are you getting them springs on!?!?! ;)

So the new wheels arrived :slayer: so next up, a set of winter rubber, some 10mm/15mm spacers, and a refurb for the wheels.
So, what colour do we think for the refurb? (not white)

Interested to see what the Coupe wheels will look like on the Bravo, and got them off Whiley for a cracking price, so can't go too far wrong
