Hi Everyone,
I have been away from home for a while and I come back from uni and take the family 500 out for a spin for fun as it's been a while. Annoyingly the USB/B&M/Media Player seems to have broken...?
Firstly it has recently been in for a service/MOT although unless there was a B&M update I can't imagine they would have changed anything.
So what happens is, I plug in a USB drive (that worked last time I was home) with a few folders of music on it. Initially it started playing a song but then kind of froze and the music became a buzzing/crashing computer kind of noise (hope you know what I mean) and then it went back to the radio. I was already driving at this point so all I could really do to try and fix was repeatedly pull out and replace the USB drive... didn't help, although eventually the Media Player started playing one song from the pen drive.
So, it would just play this one song on repeat, and it was the only song you could listen to, and now when you went into media player>folders>bla bla bla, it just showed that one song in one folder, even though there were 4 or 5 folders with multiple songs in.
Anyway, when I got home I went inside and formatted the USB drive so it was 'fresh' and then put the folders of music back on. Plugged it into 500 and this time is now plays two (!) songs! The same one as before, and one other one. However, if you try to view the folders and stuff the B&M lady says 'building media library' or whatever, except whilst she says it her voice stutters and freezes and makes the 'crashing computer sound' again, and then... (sorry for this essay) ...the whole thing is frozen and none of the buttons do anything for a while, then suddenly it will go back onto radio and the buttons work and you can dare to do the whole procedure again...
It's very odd, but basically wondering if there is a reset for the B&M that I can do, or if there is a known issue, also if you think it may have been updated at the service...? Because I don't know whether it was working before the service or not, as rest of family don't use the B&M so don't know anything...
If not anything else, any ideas would be welcome as it's annoying not being able to play the music I want.
Sorry for the ramble, hope it's vaguely clear.
