Was that a 435cc you had, Jock?
The 602 was a beast :D
I even overtook something going uphill once. Although it was in the snow, which always flatters a good 'A' series.

I also grew up with 2CVs and Dyanes, so I like my cars small, light, simple and fun (although the 2CV is much more sophisticated than it gets credit for).

I think the black steels look good on the white Panda. Maybe just needs some hub caps to match the rear?
I got some 50mm trailer hub caps to hide the front hub nuts (slightly smaller than the rear).

I'd like to see white wheels on white as well, Jock!
Reminds me of the Panda Bianca...

Yup, ours was the "tyre smokin' 602. I've posted elsewhere, probably a couple of years ago, about how we lived in a wee village at the top of a steep hill when we first returned to Scotland. The Dyane was the only non 4x4 that would go up that hill in the snow! combination of really skinny tyres and gutless engine!

I think black wheels with some nice small hub caps to cover the wheel studs would look great. Maybe better than white?

Felicity - see avatar picture - was a Panda Parade and had that fabric sun roof like the Bianca. It was great when we first bought her but split along the sides when she got old. I was too mean to buy a new one and was forever taping it up to stop the water leaks. I swore I'd never have another, so what did we replace her with? A panda with a sliding glass sunroof. Old fools never learn!

Yes, I'm very much of the same opinion as you. Lets throw away all the touch screen nonsense and just go back to good old basic mechanical stuff!
That reminds me of an article I read the other day about the Alfa Romeo Gullia. In my opinion one of the most desirable 'normal' cars nowadays. It was described as a real drivers car with only one big downside: the infotainment was out of date. At that moment I had genuine WTF moment. I would be very glad to have a proper drivers car without the distraction of an infotainement system.

In fact I would encourage car manufacturers to spend more money on everything that makes a car a fun car to drive and less money on everything that makes a car into a transport solution. But I guess I am a dying breed on the edge of extinction 😁.

I have taken some time to install them and truth be told: does it drive any better? Nope, not really but the knowledge that it is in very good condition now really contributes to the driving pleasure.
Unintentionally I was lying: the car does function better. For example I no longer need to hold the tailgate open with my head. And the car actually brakes a lot better than before. To quote the underrated and unsurpassed Edd China: Result!
